MultiChoice has a reputation problem after Canal+ takeover

Netflix's reputation isn't that stellar either as many are sick of the endless 'woke' propaganda and reality nonsense. The fact that DSTV is even worse than them displays just how far the mighty have fallen.
What is "woke" ?

So they've been sleeping on the press around MC for the last few years? On the Afrikaans side it started when they canned productions like Jukebox, Skole Top 10 and DKNT 5 years ago promising to replace them with something. After that it was a few half hearted low budget productions that became a dead end.

Realistically the complaints started the year after Mnet first aired already, so the problem has existed for years and Multichoice has in reality always had a reputational problem with the consumer.

Canal+ has a white elephant problem after buying Multichoice…

Can't help but wonder what Canal+ really found when they checked the inside of the shiny hubcap that Dstv presented itself as.

Uhmm nope, they have over 14 million subscribers across Africa, with infrastructure there they didn't have before. You're only viewing it from an SA perspective, which also actually gives them infrastructure and rights and ownership of products they didn't have before.

Well that's the strange part - there was no attempt to sell to Canal+ , it was an aggressive (to start) corporate take-over...

Yeah and they were trying from even 2017 when Naspers still had it.
