Randburg - In another colossal misstep with the HD-PVR range of set top devices, Multichoice have, with the latest software release, re-introduced many of the older bugs back into the UEC DSR4660 (aka UEC HD-PVR 4T). No features other than some cosmetic changes were introduced.

It would appear that the wrong branch of the source code repository was used to compile the new release, and no field testing was conducting. Sources close to Multichoice are puzzled at this recent turn of events and suggest that the problems are due to senior level management in-fighting.

Some of the issues (re)introduced into the new release include:
- Surround Sound no longer works
- HDMI/HDCP problems
- EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) failing to update
- Scheduled records failing to occur
- Hard crashes requiring a front panel reset
- Trick Modes (i.e. Rewind, Fast Forward) failing to operate smoothly and correctly
- Audio failures when exiting Trick Modes
- Remote control less responsive

It is hoped by HD-PVR users that a better version of the software will be released in the very near future, but Multichoice remains as unresponsive as always.

Sheizer.....mine's on auto update.

Multi choice are like the ANC no one takes blame for anything.

People still use this company???

That is absolutely flabbergasting that anyone would willingly subject themselves to this kind of crap! :D

Would you rather have people become criminals and steal all the content?

Anyone know if you can disable updates on the HD PVR 2P ? I haven't managed to find that setting...

I cant believe they havent update the subtitle yet. as old Decoder have subtitle. but HD PVR P2 dont have subtitle. very weird!

You/your source have made a whole lot of assumptions & false statements
The only issue with the latest update was that some users have surround sound issues over HDMI
The rest of your list were either previous issues or are installation related

I have a UEC HDPVR and have none of those issues except trick mode being a little irritating, but that's nothing new

Jeez did you have a bowl of steroids for breakfast?
Whahahaha, fair enough, difficult to portray tone on here. But, I do get annoyed when people post stuff without the source. Especially something damning to an SA tech firm like UEC (not that I ever have worked there or anything just to clear that up).

I agree. Post the source with. Google some of the text but no results.
