MultiChoice unveils new DStv HD decoder

What a pity Multichouice/ DSTV don't upgrade their programmes with more suitable packages instead of getting us to pay more for crap and repeats and then give them money for a new box.
Gave up Multichouce 2 months ago and now watch word wide TV in in better HD than Dstv provide. R1000 better of now. No extra money for bandwidth to watch two channess in HDwith 14 days "CATCH UP" on at same time in different rooms.Every sports channel DSTV has plus at least 3 times more with much better commentators especially the tennis

Again MC did not ensure the market understood where this decoder fits in.
The only really significant thing is the decoder uses IUC technology doing away with the need for a sep SC. Plus the decoder simplifies the process when used in combination with another under XV.
No great shakes at all.

Oh and it is cheap at only R 399, same price as the OVHD decoders.

Aaand it has 2 tuners , whereas the existing 4136 4U and 4S only has one tuner ....

Little bits of info are starting to emerge. 4137 5U and 5S are replacements for the existing 4136 models.

5U manufactured in Durban by UEC
5S manufactured in JHB somehwere by ???

they need to fire the software developers and hire ones who actually know how to develop something that can remain bug-free for longer than 1 hour of running...

JA spot on! MC services were just about useless all weekend because of reboots, problems with their streaming services and Showmax via the decoders.

Would have been super upset if I was paying for the premium service --- downgraded to EasyView so long a go have forgotten when, but still very cheesed off when you have PVR facilities for which you pay R 85/month and it does not work.

Do not know who is doing their sw development now but it is just a mess.
