MultiChoice welcomes competition from Netflix

Its quite easy, if Monochoiche want's to kill Netflix in the local market offer sport on Showmax....

I think the only thing that would kill is multichoice's own dstv.

Que the obligatory Mulichoice hate spewed from people that think that 1 million ADSL lines beats 5 million DSTV subscribers.

Also forgetting that DSTV has stopped focusing on it premium user for a few years already. That subscriber base hasn't passed a million in years. The primary focus had switched, looking at most subscribers are actually on the cheaper packages.

Ok, i have done some more digging, it does not seem Showmax is Zero Rated on Telkom.... My bad... I should confirm before posting.... sorry uncle MODs.

But anyway, VOD is going to get easier to access and use, its only a matter of time.

You aren't wrong :p.

Telkom Press release

ShowMax Promo runs until 31st March 2016 just like the Double Your Data Promo.

Wow! Multichoice cannot rely on the sport to make people to subscribe to them! Rugby and cricket in South Africa is going the same way as the soccer!

Showmax with its 3 subscribers is no match for Netflix!

It's probably more than 3.

I'm comfortable saying that Netflix has over 100 000 subs in ZA.

Would love to know where ShowMax sits.

If ShowMax would just get the finger out of the proverbial... At this point they have a slender lead in terms of content over Netflix but that is not going to last. The amount of Netflix Originals, both new and returning, that will be released this year alone is jaw dropping and is worth the subscription alone.
