In my case they gave me free access when I did some decoder tests for them, never managed to turn it off later. Is that my problem? Nope
Uhm steam doesn't use Denovu. Disingenuous to claim so. Some publishers include it as part of their games install on steam but its not part of steam.
Games that require Denuvo or any third paty software are clearly marked in the steam store...

Any case, I don't feel bad either, since DSTV took advantage of their monopoly to exploite South Africans for decades.
Sure, they've been ruthless.
At the same time, nobody else wanted to touch this continent with satellite, if it weren't for massive piracy protection guarantees from MC to Hollywood studios & sports execs...
Not sure why Nigeria became the exception, presume piracy is really bad there yet they ended up with a lot of satellite competition. Only place MC isn't on top.

At least make an effort to find the somewhat legitimate free stuff?

Although Im sure you are breaking copyright if you are viewing supersport channels on the cheap?
Instead of MC fighting it they should ask why. Remove barriers, make it simple. Even a paybas you go option if you want to watch a specific game only. Big companies like to freak out and make examples Instead of being an example of change.

Even so consumption of it has nothing to do with the actual break of copyright.
Whether you know or not.
Buying counterfeit DVD’s? No problem.
Selling them? Making them? Big problem.
This, we use DSTV Stream but on a few occasions i had to switch to a 3rd party stream because of buggering and the stream constantly being a few minutes behind.
Also, the app is super kak.
I used one of those 3rd party streamers... Worked well but I did realize once again why I cancelled my dish subscription... Repeats repeats repeats, very little new content
Well, you don't hear of prosecutions but I wouldn't be so sure. Look what happened to the girl I mentioned earlier, and she just gave a link.
We literally only use it to watch football and Rugby. My wife watches Suidooster as well. The F1 I watch on F1TV.
I saw someones 3rd party stream once, I was astonished at the picture quality. It was miles better than the DSTV app. I set the DSTV app to 4k when they streamed the sport in 4k, the best i got was 720p and this with a 200mb fibre line connected via Cat6 LAN.
For R160 per month it is value for money if you are into sports. I am not into Football and Rugby. I enjoy the History channel and Discovery channel.

There were a couple of instances where F1 Races, via AceStream, included all the on-boards and different language commentary, in FHD. It needed 45Mb of bandwidth to work, though, and lagged about 15min behind the live-feed.
The racereplays Reddit channel is updated quickly post-session with the replays in different resolutions and sources (F1TV/SkySports F1/etc)
