Well, I would say cost has a lot to do with it as well. At R800 -00 + for premium, dstv has priced themselves out of the market.

What you get for the price is the issue. If you got proper value it wouldn't be as big an issue.

It used to be value for many, but then along came Netflix and they decided to cop out early. Peeps are now expected to pay same for largely local is lekker instead, so bad deal for most of us here except sports lovers.

Not for me, I hope Amazon or some other big international gets the sports streaming rights in SA. Although I'm more than happy with my current IPTV provider.

Oh there's at least 3 or 4 ex-DStv forum guys who are here as well as me, they know. But not gonna force them to admit their DStv liking sin, so yes, take my word for it or don't.

Hence why I can happily say it’s all hearsay.

That they went after people all the time (even internally as well) is true, but that they ever brought stuff to prosecution is few and far between.

Scare mongering more than anything, it’s the way of life for Multichoice.

Good try but you clearly didn't spend much time there..... who was in charge in the end days of the forum, well known lady so you should know her name, even her company position?

I never said Multichoice has never prosecuted anyone, we all know they have. What they certainly haven’t done is prosecute someone for just posting a link.

People were caught red-handed internally pirating on the Naspers/Multichoice network and torrenting from Mweb and not a single one of them got more than a warning if even that.

MultiChoice says fighting piracy of its DStv channels is an ongoing battle that presents multifaceted challenges. It previously said illegal streams were a bigger threat than competition from rival services like Netflix.

One of the biggest problems is users watching pirated sports streams online. Supersport is DStv's most valuable asset, but it is increasingly available online.

Why is watching sports online through the internet piracy? Does MultiJunk own all the data packets between us and servers now?

Recording and reselling or redistributing something multi choice has broadcast is piracy.

Finding a provider who lets you stream content they have paid for is not piracy. As much as multi choice would Ike us to believe so…

Except that now you just changed your tune to “perhaps it wasn’t just a link” which makes for something entirely different.

Maybe you weren’t paying attention when you were overhearing the stories.

Or you know as people always do, they added a little drama and flair that isn’t completely true because there’s nothing like a good skinner.

If it happened you would surely be able to find evidence in the public record quite easily?

You missed the initial thread discussion - it's about pirates hijacking their broadcasts / streams and then offering that to their own subscribers. Not about other legit sports sources.

The amount of channels have decreased year on year aswell. Then you add streaming and the value has dropped drastically.

What makes you so sure, you've studied that section of law?

If you're right, explains much - only examples we've seen are related to distribution or encouragement of that usage.
