Hi there

I'm looking for a printer for small to medium sized office. like maybe 10-30 users. I know many factor can make decision easier but just tell me what info you need. I have no budget yet but really not to worried about that now. What i need is not extremely large cartridge but fairly large. They won't print large volumes all the time. Also needs a large paper tray to eliminate having to replace it regularly.

I was thinking of the Samsung CLX-6260FW. That looks okish but bit worried about cartridges that's rated at 3500 pages. But can I get something better that doesn't cost me to much more or will this printer be good enough? I'm also not to worried about features and so on.

Firstly I hate multifunction things. Scanner stops working nobody can print and so on.

I bought a scanner for each department and then I got a decent B&W and Colour printer.
Works well. If one breaks they have another while it goes in for repairs and no office without the ability to print.

Get a proper printer that you pay per month. Like from Toshiba or Nashua , any other company ... its worth it for so many users.

What do you mean pay per month? Do you mean as in hire the printer? No thanks we rather have our own printer.

I had endless hassles with those things last time we tried it.
Now just a couple of printers and a couple of spares.

In the end you pay the same amount and the thing is not yours. But anyway that out of the way without having to argue now let's just say it's permanent printer for at least 3 years.

thing about printers is they are evil. litrally the most unreliable thing in the office.

getting managed print services (renting as pointed out earlier) means you get to yell at the printer people rather than a poor support guy in the office who cant do anything about the printer not working.

also for 30 people you need a print service.
thing is you can do about 5 people per printer if there is a lot of printing. if you dont print often you can get to about 15, after that just get the service and save everyone time, the money will work out the same over the 3 year period due to wear and tear on the printers you buy.

Ours worked 3 weeks out of 4 at best.
Now I have a printer problem I simply send it in for repairs and if needed take my spare out the cupboard. Usually back in 2 days and average of one printer problem a year (out of around 10 printers around the factory in total).

I found colour printers go a bit faster than black and white.
Our B&W in the main office (HP P3010) has been in for repairs 2 times in 8 years.
Our colour has been replaced once in that time, currently a laserjet 500 M551.

Both are networked printers, both are high volume.

Standard printers are ok for one or 2 users and not that many prints and be in no hurry to get the paper.

Do you think that samsung clx-6260fw should be ok for not that many prints. will be far less than the rated monthly prints.

No idea.
I have 2 samsung printers here, both multifunction, one is a fax machine for a 2n'd company and the other is an emergency spare.
I am not impressed with either but they are not exactly latest technology so can't really comment. I prefer HP and dislike multifunction.

I also don't really like multifunction but we have the old clx-6220fx here at my workplace and it's okish but we don't print that much. It's nearly 5 years old i think and it's still very good. It's just the cartridge size and so on. I must say maybe i have a lower standard than you cause I never worked with the bigger printers before only up to the clx-6220fx. Bare in mind the clx-6260FW does come with faster CPU and other enhancements that should in theory make it a little bit better than the 6220fx.

If I were you I would keep that printer till it dies or pack it away as a spare and get another then just buy a scanner.
