These strikers seem to believe that you should be compensated according to manual labour performed. If this were the case, mine workers should be the highest paid people in the world.
HOWEVER (dramatic comma) managers / CEO's earn what they do because their heads are on the chopping block. Your salary is in line with your level of responsibility. If the municipal workers stuff up, the municipal head is accountable. If bus drivers cause accidents, their owners are accountable, if miners die due to negligence, the mine owners are responsible.
If a doctor makes a mistake, HIS ass is on the line.
I would give these strikers raises if they also accept personal responsibility for all their actions in the companies. As an employee you get your pay cheque every month. The managers you so love to hate are the ones stressing to ensure there's actually enough money for everyone to be paid every month.
