So I want some muscles. Have been going to the gym for around a year and a half and can lift much heavier circuit weights but my muscles aren't much bigger. :(

I know some of you guys do bodybuilding and stuff and would know about this stuff that's why I ask here. (Please if you have nothing constructive to add, don't post)

So can you help me with what I should do to get nice musckles.:o

I noticed a definite increase in muscle size when I added a protein (not meal replacement) shake to my diet. I added it because I was getting hungry after long cardio sessions. I had it after breakfast and lunch and within about 6 weeks my muscles where definitely bigger.

Something to keep in mind is that muscle is heavier than fat so don't be surprised and worried if you pick up weight when your muscles get bigger.

What protein shake did you use/recommend?

I noticed the same thing, so I had my totesterone levels checked and they were on the low side of the scale, so good Doc gave me a shot of sustanon and that brought up the levels so muscle growth continues. I'll never get *roid rage* because those people already overdose on normal totesterone levels and become psychotic.

Whey Protein is best, contains less carbs than those normal shakes you buy that has protein (like USN chocolate shake)

The taste is not to die for but not bad when you get used to it. Just remember to clean your shaker asap otherwise it stinks to high hell.

If you've been doing the circuit and can pick up large weights etc doesn't mean much. I'd say try and get a buddy together with you and pay for a personal trainer for a month or two. Its well worth the money.

They'll show you which places to squeeze to get what muscle definition etc. You'll be amazed at how much different focus on specific areas makes to what you're used to (I used to think I knew a lot about weights etc, after 3 sessions with a personal trainer I could FEEL the difference and after 2 months I could actually see muscle definition and I wondered to myself why I've been doing the stuff wrong)

Anyway good luck dude. If nothing else, move to the free weight section and make buddies with the body builder guys there.

Those body builder guys scare me. But thanks for the advice, any brand recommendation?

Pooky how old are you? The reason I am asking is because IIRC doing weight training can be detremental to your growth (height). If you are young enough to still growing then maybe check that out first.

Herbalife Shakes are great too, with a protien powder added (which they supply too)

I was using herbalife for a while, the stopped right before i started doing weights... And the best way to get bigger muscles is to lift heavier weights and less repps...

8 reps on light weight
6reps on heavier weight
4reps on heavier weight
2reps on heavier weight

creatine is also a good choice although its just a quick fix, cos you need to stay on it for the time you want to look bigger...

Protien bars, and suppliments are the best choice, cos you dont depend on them...

id also reccomend not to start doing any weight lifting before AT LEAST 17, because it is very bad for your growth...

id also reccomend not going for bigger muscles at first... rather go, light weight, lots if reps, and remember you should always feel your muscles burning, cos then you working them, and will see bigger size and good form

and do 3 or more sets of everything you working out on... and add more weight once you reach your 15 or more reps goal...

Julle bulle gooi daai ysters in die gym, he? :)

Sorry don't understand.

If you can afford a personal trainer, and I mean a good decent one, not some steroid junkie - someone that has studied sports science and nutrition. I know they expensive these days round, R120-200 p/h, but get him for about a 8-12 weeks only. You don't understand the amount of knowledge you will learn from him. You don't just want to jump into the free weight section and lift weights, not understanding form, technique etc. That's how I injured my shoulder as a youngster, and the pain is still with me...

Agreed... im lucky enough to be a swimmer, and my coach and assistand coaches are both very quilified, and they are coaching my swimming and land training

You very fortunate to have coaches taking care of your training, wish I had a trainer from day 1 of my training. Where do you train for swimming?
