Muscle relaxant

Do not know if it is a spasm. Whatever will make it feel better :)

I have a recurrent spasm in my neck so I can empathise with your discomfort. Ibuprofen during the day & ibuprofen and a glass of wine at night (the combo relaxes the neck/shoulder just that much quicker). It wont release the spams though, just give you some interim relief. Physio or acupuncture is still one of the only ways I have found that can release the spasm; even then it takes a few sessions.

Good luck!

So much advice, was not sure how to proceed! Took 2 Voltaren tabs and put a Transact patch on the affected area ............ no relief!! No wine in the house, so will just repeat the 'tabs and patch' method before bedtime.

Try for another baby for a massage

Calcium and Magnesium POWDER is what I use, gives my 85 year old Grandmother good sleep too. Yes CALCIUM is a muscle relaxant.

Norflex co ... orphenadrine + paracetamol

everything else said is panado + brufen

Had a severe neck and shoulder spasm that lasted for about two weeks - tried many of the remedies mentioned here, but little or no relief.
Orthopedic friend prescribed 10 PAX tablets (generic Valium or Diazepam)
One at bed time - slept like a log - all aches were gone after 5 days but I finished the course ;-)
Amazing thing is, the 10 tablets cost R15 at regular chemist

Hmmm. Well now you did say OTC and OTC is no match for S5

if you going to get a script for acute short doses you cannot beat the benzos however be careful because you will get dependent on their activity (not addicted there is a difference) and then want to use them more then you will end up addicted. Though lots of people will come posting about how benzos are bad and mad and addictive etc then the big pharma loons will come and claim they want you to be addicted to make money. Though its cheaper than all the OTC stuff lol

For spasms that are severe and/or chronic you can use amitriptyline 10mg at night or baclofen or 100mg carbamazepine. Valium is for a week or when necessary so if you having the problem everyday dont use it everyday look at the other drugs.

Your ortho friend will be able to determine the dosing for you

Whwn you have a spasm of this nature go see a physio that also uses acupuncture. You will have immediate relief. Taking pills for 5 days are pointless.
