I used to be a Linkin park/seether/metallica sorta fan - Would judge music on what genre it fitted into to instead of on its own merits. There is so much awe-inspiring music in the world I have found it's really worth not listening to music in a categorical sense.

I also (try) write music and I find that the more varied your influences, the easier and more interesting the song-writing process is.

I think I draw the line at country though. :p

There's actually some pretty good (alt) country out there - try giving 16 Horsepower a listen.
