Musical Instruments, do you play?

Some people do that for fun you know. :p

If there is anyway I can engineer it, I am hoping to maybe do a B.Mus next year majoring in music tech, of which I have already completed 2 years.

what exactly is a music tech major? a standard Bmus with theory/prac and some extras?

I believe it is just a normal Bmus with music tech as a subject.

Or perhaps even a BA with theory and music tech, I'm not sure yet what the best option is going to be.

I play the keyboard, started at around 8-9, I had some casio keyboard but stopped playing 2 years later. 5 years started playing again and it was not like riding a bike. The keyboard later stopped working (maybe from those years of gathering dust). I then bought a M-audio O2 midi controller keyboard, which I like very much. But I'll probably never buy M-audio speakers again after they upped and stopped working a week after the warranty had finished.
I cant read sheet music for crap, most of the time I try watch a youtube video, slow it down and imitate. I have to stop producing regullary as this interferes with my study's, I even deleted some of the production programs of my computer so I don't get tempted.

How did you get into the business of being a composer for movies, shows and so on. I've being thinking alot about it, since I listen to alot of soundtracks.

lots of perseverance basically, going around and introducing myself to people in the business, delivering showreels, making contacts etc.
took about 2 years of that before i started getting decent work.

drums, played for 3 years, then sold the kit because i needed to move to a complex...
Deciding if its worth taking a loan to get myself a td4k, I have been trying to get it since the new range came out...everytime i get close, something pops up that sucks the savings fund..

Jam to anything really, but really enjoy playing to stuff like Rage, RHCP, tool, dave matthews etc (although trying to play like C beauford or D carrey is incredibly frustrating...because i am just not good enough.....)

I am on my 11th guitar now :) It's become more of a collector habit than a player one, I buy them and hoard them :P

Currently learning to program synthesizers and Ableton properly, learning to make dubstep, drum and bass, psytrance and hopefully nu-skool breaks soon :D

I play keyboard - just started again after a 15 year hiatus, so it's going a bit slow. I recently upgraded to a Yamaha Tyros 3 after two LCD sceen failures on my two former PSR-S900s. The keyboards feel quite different as the Tyros 3 has a longer key stroke, which takes some getting used to. I play any song that I like no matter how difficult it might be, which is probably why progress is less than awesome. I guess the songs fall into the No 1's category, so currently busy with the top hit from 1973 "Tie a Yellow Ribbon". Next I'll tackle "All My Loving" by the Beatles and then maybe I'll do something more recent.

Right, I'll add too. Play a few instruments, but can't say I'm a pro on most of them, but a little above average at least. Primary instrument I play is Keyboard/Piano. Then I also play me some guitar, bass and drums. Also play some harmonica and, but I'm still learning a bit, so I can play, but won't consider myself on level just yet. Am working on it though.

Instrument wise on keyboards I have a Yamaha PSR 2100. Guitar wise I'm just playing on a Ibanez acoustic which I got from my dad a long long time ago. Don't have bass at the moment. Harmonica I have a Hohner Special 20's in the key of C. Drums I have an electronic kit at the moment (don't wanna peeve off the neighbours) - a Roland TD-3.

Yeah...the Tyros is a nice piece of work for some solid home playing, good capability! Also had an issue in one of my PSR ranges in the past which Yamaha SA could not get repaired over a period of months, always had some sort of excuse too, so after taking it up directly with Yamaha in Japan I received a brand new PSR 2100 within 1 hour after lodging my complaint. Now that was some super customer service I tell you. Just lodged my complaint and grievances and 1 hour later the local store here said they got a call from Yamaha in Japan and I must come and fetch my new keyboard. That one's been giving me good mileage ever since.

Trumpet (fair enough, but nowhere pro quality)
French horn (beginner, but trumpet xp gives me an edge)
Guitar (not much though: the only one who can enjoy my playing is myself)

Hmm, seems like I'm the only symponic type around, thus far. :-(
I play in the Pretoria Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (PYPO, so much easier to say!). We've had a bass guitar playing for us at a stage, gave a nice sound to the orchestra. Any decent bass players (who can read music!) around in the PTA region? ;-P

That's where I learned the trumpet, and I knew the school's trombones at that time. One thing I miss of PE - the bands are just so much fun! Much more relaxed than symphonic/philharmonic, and violins are quite scarce.

thats pretty random...
The school had a very good orchestra at a time. I don't know about now, though.
