Musicians' thread.

A piano is 88.

Keyboards come in all sizes, up to full size piano.

What do you want to do with this thing?
I started piano lessons but the teacher said if I would feel more comfortable with getting a midi based keybaord then I should.
The guy at the music store said I should consider a Casio CTK 3200

At this point, all I can say is don't get a thing that holds samples unless you need it for live use or whatever.

Getting a nice MIDI controller is a way better option, and any sounds you produce with software will be way better than what a mid-range piano keyboard will give you.

tsume if you are learning piano it's encouraged if you are going to go with a keyboard, to get one with weighted keys. Problem with one's without weighted keys is that you don't build up finger strength which results in problems when you want to play on a piano that is weighted.

It's not a trainsmash, but it will probably make life a little easier.

I haven't yet decided. I'd like to get some "professional" but on the budget side. If it's a keyboard or MIDI device depends on which comes first.

@Pooky can you make any suggestions?

What are you wanting to use it for? Purely learning piano... or using it with a computer and DAW?

Yeah, I don't see the purpose of that if I already have a sound card

I doubt you will find anything with 61 weighted keys in that price range.

Something like this:

Is what I'd look at personally...
