Musicians' thread.

Shot, I'm still very keen to hear you play. You must be very good, considering the stuff you say you play. :D

The stuff I used to play :p I don't practice much anymore :( It is on and off at the moment.

Besides which I don't reckon I'm much of a musician really. I can copy others very well and learn songs very quickly if I have to, but making my own material is another story.

That's what everyone says. :p

I, on the other hand, know literally about 5.3 covers.

Of course my other problem is I have only ever owned a 2nd hand Sammick and a small amp. For what, 6-8 years now?

I think if I were to upgrade maybe I would be more motivated again :)

Besides you heard me play Porcupine Tree :p not a great recording (with a PC mic) but still. :D

Aaah yes, you were singing, well, from what I recall.

I wouldn't bother with amps personally, amp modelling on the PC does it for me, personally.

Singing AND playing same time. Get your facts straight :p

It is interesting learning a new song like that. Totally different coordination required to sing and play :/ first time I tried was very surprised at how difficult it can be with timing singing in between chords and rhythm.

I can only play and sing dead simple stuff, I don't know how people like Wilson and Åkerfeldt do it. :D

It was quite a while ago but ..
>How long do they take to deliver?
Depends if it's in stock, the first time I bought the item was in stock and it was very quick, a day or two max I think. Second time, when I bought my studio rack, it took a week or two because they had to wait for stock. It's always best to contact an online shop in advance to check if they have stock/ETA.

>Packaging and everything ok?
Yeah, was pretty decent. If you're buying something like a guitar, maybe check with them how they package that sort of thing. If you're getting something you suspect is very fragile, ask first.

>Was it couriered to your door or post office?[/QUOTE]
Door, I *think* the courier was RAM.

Drop them an email before you order and check their T&C and all that jive.

edit: What are you ordering?

:D :D

Ok cool, thanks.

Yeah, will drop them an email.

Ordering: http://www.soundz.co.za/pZOG21U/Zoom-G21U-Guitar-Multi-Effects-Pedal.aspx

Missed out on one 2nd hand in Paarl.
Still looking. But will be using them as my last resort.

Oh yeah, if you find the item cheaper somewhere, don't be shy to haggle with online stores, it can be done ;-)

Sweet, hope you get sorted out with whatever your final decision is ;-) gear lust never stops :(

Word! :D

And thanks again :)

Thing is that I'm not finding any better deals at the moment though.
Its cheaper on Amazon, but that's without shipping.
Wantitall are a little bit more expensive.
Takealot don't have it on their books.
Kalahari is a no go.
Nothing on junkmail or gumtree anymore.

Why the Zoom? I can tell you now, you will get (free) amp modelling and effects that will blow out the water anything the Zoom can offer you.

So what suggestions do you have in mind?
I like the Zoom cos of the Pedal for Wah-wah or chorus.
That's its biggest selling point for me... :o
