It the 10th now and my local CNA doesn't have the December issue of Computer Music yet :( Anybody here manage to obtain it yet?

On another note, it's about time I update my DAW. Currently using Sony ACID Pro 5. What DAW would you guys recommend?

People still use ACID??! :D :confused:

Use whatever works for you, I personally use/suggest Reaper because it's cheap to own, well supported, good community.. but it obviously depends on your workflow/technique. All the main DAWs out today are perfectly good, it's really up to you to try/choose/demo.

Gumtree, post there.. or maybe phone your local music shop(s), university etc; I'll PM you, I have friends who play in orchestras and stuff, I can ask around.

It has a lot of useful and powerful features. I know people who won't use anything else (and they've in the past used most of the big ones). But this type of software is largely a matter of preference.
 
I'm looking for a midi controller keyboard (having never played a keyboard before), that will interface very well with soft synths. I don't care much for the hardware synths included, I won't be using them, so it's preferable that I'm not paying for an enormous high quality library that I'm not going to use.

These are the features I am most interested in. Let me know if I should look for other features based on my aims, and if there are any midi controller keyboards that you would recommend for interfacing with a DAW.

Semi weighted
Expression (Would you recommend expressive keys or a pedal? Do they both interface with the DAW?)
Ability to increase keyboard range via +- octaves
Pitch bend
Sustain pedal
Modulator
49 or 61 notes?

What you just mentioned is basically the standard on most midi controller keyboards.
What's your price range?
