MW2: Our game has changed forever

14% aint much cr@p

Cant we just change the maps on COD 4 and keep it fresh and play untill there is a better title out then.

Activision Blizzard wont care! F&uck Them! They only interested in money, But Infinity Ward would care. They all gamers at infinity Ward.

Funny you say that, I just read this entire decision came from Infinity Ward and not Activision, 0_o, strange days.

OK, I signed the petition as well.
Currently there is 44531 Signatures Total

Good idea to get this to the SAIX and Igame people involved.

We can only hope

The game will be run from a central US based auth server, just like cod4, expect, this server will team you up with players on your own skill level, where you will then be matched up, and connecting via p2p...

Thats pretty much the long and short of it, we are screwed. End of story.

perhaps that is why they increased the PC price, to offset the lost sales they expected after announcing this blasphemy

noticed this:
Here's the score: by building up its own matchmaking service riding shotgun with Steam, "you can get in and play with players your same rank," Bowling said. However, "You're completely reliant on IWNet and there is no dedicated server or server list. You rely on IW Net for matchmaking and your games, but you still have your private matches."
wtf does that mean?

"the comment from the IW devs that screws PC Gaming is "we were thinking of having controller only support" FOR PC!"

....

St3baS I admire your commitment to get us into mw2, but it aint gonna happen. Do me a fav go on Gears of War and search for a quick game.

dude do you really think that the match maker software isnt going to take ping into consideration?
hopefully it will, but no details have been released. i have played cod4 on xbox matchmaking, as well as halo3. and the latency is ALWAYS noticeable. you CAN still play, don't get me wrong, but there the whole system works on peer to peer. and what happens when the IW matchmaking cannot fill a "local" server? whatever a local server might mean now since the definition has been blown to bits

by all means, remain optimistic, but heed my warning: goodbye to knife fights and sniping

Is there no one from SAIX, IBUSRT or any of the main server hosts here to give us a bit of input what this means to them ?

Gears of War is not even nearly close to as big as Modern Warfare here man. This is a game that has gotten people who didnt play any games to play online and love it. The community is just massive and if we could pull this off then who know what it means for all major online titles that are going to be based on the same type of system? Battle.net 2?

You cant just roll over and say were screwed when in fact we arent screwed... yet.

Interesting post with regards to this.
As someone in the minority who pops in and out of many servers to play online, this initially didn't bother me much. I enjoyed the CoD series mainly for its singleplayer immersion, and dabbled in online for a while as well. I was hellbent on preordering MW2 no matter what.

I've given it a lot of thought since this article came out, though, and decided that I won't be getting this. Even though this doesn't affect me much as an individual, I can see how this is affecting many gaming communities and clans. Dedicated servers have been around on PC for at least over a decade, so why in the living hell would you take a huge step backwards into the realm of consoles?

Like others have said, its where regular people go to play. It's no different than going to your local bar and seeing the same friends and employees there (Cheers anyone?), except now, you're told which bar to go to, and you're going to like it or else. I can relate to this in Team Fortress 2. I have a couple of amazing dedicated servers that I go to, one which hosts a great mod (roll the dice). If that were to go the route of what IW is doing, I'd just uninstall it immediately and save myself the heartbreak.

IW, I hope you're reading all these comments. Your business decision is creating more than a ripple in the water, as its affecting everyone, even people in my category, in which as much as I'd like to still buy MW2 and just shrug the new matchmaking system off, I'm not going to give in and support such an asinine concept.

My money is henceforth going to L4D2, which will keep me busy for a long time. And hopefully IW will have enough time to dislodge their heads from Activision's ass and realize they're not making money on their cash cow like they thought they would.

Bottom line? Don't toss us PC players to the side of the road just because your game is the successful FPS equivalent of Madden. You make us suffer, and we'll gladly return the favor tenfold.

Yup playing online is not just about the game, it is about getting on your local and pooning your buds and getting pooned back.

Not this you must play here BS. I got a feeling they will not follow through with this though, i think 50% of their sales will be gone. Very few people buy COD games for the single player element.

uhmmm, PC gamers are but a fraction of the total gamers. and the PC version is a port from the console. they really couldn't care less.

No you may be correct in terms of single player games but a game like cod must have 2-4 million people who buy the game.

I think the COD pc market must be massive.

even as a whole it doesn't compare to console uptake. talking about a 15% market share...

and the major players (yanks, europe) wont be affected as bad as us.

either way, if you count the petition votes as one lost sale, they have already lost in excess of R20 million
