MW2 - PC or PS3?

You will get used to it for sure but you could never match a mouse and keyboard.

There is a reason they do not offer the ability in most FPS to run a mouse and keyboard even though the ps3 can handle a mouse and keyboard the game makers disable it in their games.

When i used to play Max Payne on the PC, I used to wonder how the console boys used the control to aim + shoot, but now that I'm comfortable with the console control (either), I've gotta say PS3, if just for the community that it comes with.

PC, 'cos I'm too old and clumsy to handle the controllers. I only challenge my kids on PC, never PS...

well, there's games like Unreal Tournament where you can have mouse and keyboard at lans, and i've only been to one lan where a keyboard and mouse was used and idn't make a difference to the player...listen, i'm not saying it makes no difference, obviously it does...more so in some games than others...quake, no way will i ever touch a controller with it...there's just too many levels in a map and you constantly moving up and down...gotta hit the spot wiht a rail gun....Modern Warfare games are basically 1 or 2 levels...even you take the most complex map in MW2, Favela's, the narrow alley's don't allow you to be gazing down to fire, you still fire across the map so there isn't as huge an advantage...anyways, now getting to know some of the pc gamers, during the course of the year, i'll definitely invite one of the better ones to join us at a PS3 lan and use the fragenstein and have a friendly showdown...(if he can get use to the non-wasd movement of the right controller)...

but having played both, i have a strong personal opinion that the console gamers will destroy the pc gamers :) hopefully during the telkom league we might have a showdown of pc vs ps3 in some friendly format...

Ive seen some PC cod4 players at lans, trust me, you'll be dead before you reach the trigger.

Fragenstein is not the controller is it? m/b vs controller is no contest. I may still get that fragenstein because it is only movement to get used to you still aim with the mouse.

Doob, or anyone, if you get the Fragnstein, let us know how it performs.
Moving from Console to PC, and now trying console games again ........ it is horribly difficult!!!!!!

@Nduisuimo : I game daily on both platforms, game MW2 on steam so I'm very aware of the skills...put close to 500 hours into MW2 in 2 months...enough time to assess the skills on both platforms...and easily say that the controllers make only a small difference...it's like saying Michael shumacher would be left dead if he had a monkey wrench instead of a steering wheel because all the other skill rely exclusively on that component...on your comment, equally, i know lots of players that will shoot you before you blinked your eye with a console controller...consoles are cheap, do you think many gamers (including competitive gamers) actually choose the console to game knowing the controller doesn't work...it does work, just doens't have to work the same...love how people have opinions but haven't realyl tried it...

Yes, Fragenstein is a controller (actually 2), it's a mouse basically for aiming, shooting, zooming and has the controller buttons on the mouse for crouching, swopping weapons, proning and jumping. The other piece of the controller is used for moving and has arrow buttons for selecting equipment, calling in rewards, etc.

Very well recieved, only issue is that you need a white mouse pad...even pc gamers have given it very good reviews over using a traditional keyboard and mouse....

@Nduisimo : you've tried everything so you can comment on everything...not talking about trying...sorry if you think a controller defines the quality of a player, should let the developers and publishers know that...don't want them finding out when everyone starts flocking to the PC...*LOL*...pc is dying...not slowly, but very quickly in gaming industry, the last 2 decent games exclusive to PC was Crysis (with Crysis 2 coming to consoles) and World in Conflict.

I'm a very active gamer with a pc background and don't want to slag it, but it's true...gaming on pc is dying for various reasons and consoles are generating millions of $$$'s more than PC because there is no real benefits to pc gaming and I'm personally contributing to the opinion that the controls isn't a benefit either. The only benefit is graphics right now...

@Keeper : You can laugh...played FPS's on PC recently ? they've resorted to camping, cheating, hacking and noobing, there's no skill really left in PC online gaming...man, sitting in a corner waiting for someone to run by cos you scared to move anywhere in the open cos a sniper with his deadly aim *thanks mouse* is gonna take you out doesn't help in improving your skills...

I gave a very detailed account of the pc gaming experience and weird that people's response's are "LOL", obviously they have no objective and personal opinions because they don't game on both platforms and likely don't even game on 1 of them...I'll join any local game with a local player from myBB and we assess the gameplay...guaranteed it's filled with campers...hackers and cheats are a little less, but also there...

Lemon dude you are such a console fanboy. Nothing worse than people like who push their preference and keep making excessively long posts to prove their point which nobody reads because they are so damn long and it is so obvious you are a fanboy.

So move along buddie :D

jis maar die man , ^^+1 , kan strooi praat...ek QUOTE

28OCT09 "As of now PC sales of MW2 at Amazon.com represent only 8% of total sales" ....

so much for "very quickly"...

LOL gotta laugh at the "PC gamers will get creamed by console players." Someone seems to be watching the killcam a lot as well, makes me wonder where the skill problem is.

Obviously the possibility are there that a PS3 guy will have good skills, most likely that person are using a keyboard and mouse on his PS3.

Now all of a sudden PC gamers are noobs, yet the consoles have "AUTO AIM" functions for the more disadvantaged people.

As for camping, noobing, hacking and cheating happens on all platforms.

oh and PS: Technically speaking a PS3 are a PC, just think about it ;)

LOL... have people forgotten where the FPS genre started on?

Killa : Quite the opposite ...I'm a gaming fanboy...yeah, married...kids...but i attend most lans in jhb (been to the GameXchange, Zaps, PS3 lans in the last year amongst others), took off work to go Rage, PS3 crashed and bought MW2 for PC same day...i game on PC as well, never upgraded from my 8800gt but i've played Crysis, World in Conflict, Bioshock, NFS:Shift, Left for Dead all recently on PC (currently playing Shift, MW2 and Borderlands on PC)....So yes, i do have an opinion and i could be generally wrong wiht my assumption overall, but just something to consider, the only other person that has tried it on both platforms says he does prefer console too...2ndly, i tried it on both, so why shouldn't i give a detailed opinion when someone asked for it when they will be making a buying decision....lastly, who are you to say i'm wrong when you have not had my experience on both platforms, the lack of any real reference's to the games in your posts but rather personal attacks on me obviously shows that you have no facts or 'real' opinion...

Obviously have everyone's comments fresh in my mind on friday, i was very critical of the game play over the weekend and i stick to my guns that console games with their controllers are as good if not better than the pc gamers...maybe i can record the 2 of local matches and post it on youtube with links and allow you to make the decision yourself...

@MrNutz : It's gonna be a long time for the PC-Die-hards (i was one too a few years back) to accep that PC gaming is dying quickly...strategy games and graphics are keeping them alive for now...

@Papparazzi : Can twist my words...MW2 you will always die, i was trying to say instead of pressing "F" to just respawn, i watch the killcams to get familiar with how guys approached me, shot me and moved on....it's part of learning, espeically when the gameplay is sooo different...and in watching, i've realised that most were camping...(and no doubt, there are some realyl good guys, but i didn't come across more than 1 maybe ...:) Single player FPS games on console sometimes do have auto-aim, MW2 does, but only in SP....MP there is no auto-aim..and you'll be shocked by the speed and preciseness of console players....

@Wikk : No doubt, FPS started and will always have a home on PC...some games might never make the transition...e.g. Quake series (except maybe quake 2), but Q1 and Q3:A were too fast paced to ever use a controller...maybe Unreal T too...but the rest have found a worthy home on console...

Argue as much as you guys want, but no one has given a legitimate reason why PC is better or mouse is better, other than aiming...and if games were all just about aiming, everyone would buy a razor booms mouse with a R500 mousepad, 24" 1080p screen and great gaming pc....there's more to it...that's strategy and gaming mind...and i think the pc is killing that mind off and console is improving players....and there's very few cheaters on console...search the ps3 forums, 1 member tried...*TRIED* the javelin glitch and everyone removed him from their friends list...PC, it's rife, you don't even know if guys are using DirectX cheats...

[EDIT] Just to prove my point, look at the pace and aiming possible on a controller...below is a montage of a sniper on PS3 using the intervention, watch the 1st 2 minutes and tell me that controllers suck...and i'll be willing to make a video (lemon-saige) to show that as an average SA console player that my skills (with an AR though) are not that far off from the montage...
