I'm thinking of buying this game. However I am undecided which of the two formats i should get. anyone with experiences of both formats?

PC Version - you get to play with an actual mouse and it's cheaper too.

you don't wanna be spending R700 on a 6-hour game do you?

(this is, if you have a decent system though....)

If you buy the R880 Fragnstein controller with the game, PS3 definitely. Works with PC as well.

Otherwise, PC. Screw shooters on a PS3 without a mouse.

also is the online scene here in SA pretty good? any experiences with playing via offshore servers?

Milo you may want to save your cash for battlefield bad company 2 :D.

Far better than mw2.

There are tons of mw2 players, very good game :D

Depends what you want to use it for.I have it on xbox n pc and find myself playing on xbox alot more, with my friends ofcourse. Its great to pick up and play with buddies on console. If you are going to play online then go pc all the way, mouse > all.

[Typed a long response, but pc froze...so i'll go with the short response]

PS3 for sure !!! I also have it on both platforms (PS3 and PC)...i've prestiged 6 times on PS3 (with over 350 hours game play) and only intendign to prestige once on PC (got about 50 hours here) and easily willing ot say you will get many more hours of fun on console.

Just so you have an idea, i game on multiple platforms (playing borderlands, NFS: Shift, World in conflict on PC, Brutal Legend, MW2 and Wolfenstein on PS3)...so i'm not really a single platform gamer, but never have I enjoyed a game less than what i have playing MW2 on pc...and that's being purely honest.

The PS3 (and x-box) MW2 community is huge ! ps3za and xbox360 are easy to find, mature and very gaming orientated...last jhb lan was in november, online matches every night with over 150 gamers (PS3 alone), certain special events (tomorrow night is a COD4 session)....and daily posts...

Check it out...cos you'll definitely be happier on console..and as far as i see, the ratman and me are hte only 2 to play on both platforms and both prefer console !

The aiming on console is horrid man :(

Trying to get used to it but it is hectic, gonna need a 10 hour maybe more to get used to it i reckon.

Now lemon considering there will be dedicated servers how can you say ps3 is better?

@Controllers : Most PS3 players will cream the PC players i've played against (gotta say that maybe the aiming response time is better, but with the players camping most of the time, they don't get to practice the other critical aspects of a competitive FPS like strategic loadouts (weapon and eqiupment), strategic movement through the map, controlling an area, building on team play...

@Gameplay : I'm sorry if i'm generalising too mcuh here, but there are just so many cheaters, campers, noobers, hackers (including the directx hacks) that it's just not fun, so when the gameplay is reduced to a slower pace than wii bowling, then i couldn't care about the controllers or graphics...it's just *NOT* fun !

@Graphics : Definitely PC trumps console, provided your pc can handle it (and it should), i have a 3gh core duo with 8800gt and 2gb mem and it runs perfectly....it's definitely nicer playing with higher res. graphics...

@Price : (only cos it was mentioned), PS3 trumps PC...it's sligthly more expensive, but don't have to deal with steam, you can re-sell and it holds very good re-sale value because it's on the bd format (scratch resistant)...

FINAL DECISION

If you going to be playing ONLINE - PS3 (NO DOUBT)
If you going to be playing offline - Tough choice ..PC for graphics (maybe controllers depending which you more comfortable with) or console for being able to lounge on a couch while waging war and the fact that you can actually sell the game after you complete the 6 hour campaign!

@Killadoob : I've watched the killcam's on pc, and can easily say that *MOST* players on pc will definitely get creamed by the players on console...it's arguable and maybe i'm going into territory i shouldn't....the guys with skills with the intervention, no doubt....tough to even compare...but for the average good player, i can personally say that aiming is not an issue for me, the biggest issue for me between the 2 controllers adn swopping is on console i can't do a 180 in any reasonable time and i can't do quick side checks when i enter an area....or least not as quick...

You also don't find this most ridiculous habits of jumping and proning that i found on pc...it's just outrageously annoying, anytime a guy moves into a new line-of-sight area, he does a jump and if he see's someone, then he goes prone....just tons of tiny things that made me not enjoy the pc experience at all!

Wikk : True, but milo did ask for preferences of those that played on both platforms (i have a pc gamer background and still play a lot on it) and for the sake of someoen that is asking for an honest opinion and taking that into account that someone else will be playing this, i'm trying to give the most complete experience i've had on both platforms and be fair...and it seems that the 2 of us that played on both platofmrs prefer console....

@Fragenstein : Try www.zaps.co.za (there is only a few official retailers in SA, 1 distributor ( and 2 retailers))

Console gamers owning pc gamers is a joke they tried cross platform games before and PC gamers creamed the console gamers so it got removed, keyboard and mouse will always win

so how different is the aiming on the ps3 as compared to say killzone? using the normal controller.

I bought battlefield bad company for ps3, thought ya cool lemme try this.

The aiming on a console could never in a million years beat a m/k player.

Agreed Killa, I also played Halo 3 on a friend's xbox 360 once, how the hell one can play a FPS with a controller is beyond believe. But I guess you'll get used to it after a while though :)
