thx, but mine is vrek slow.

i switched to my afrihost account & booom max speed..

so the prob is definitely with mweb

no dude, lol

i used news.is.co.za

Just checking.... news.mweb.co.za is fast, but only when the content is cached. If it is a popular file that other people have recently downloaded on the same server it will go fast, otherwise very slow. It is the same with news.is.co.za. Of all the local servers, I think it is only the saix news servers will pull fresh content relatively fast (and then only after 6pm). I use news.mweb.co.za when I can, otherwise I fall back onto a premium international news server that I pay $11 per month for. I hate hanging about.

Could not connect yesterday and during the day, however it connected for me at 10pm and seems to be running 30kB/s plus 384k durban

I'm getting similar trouble on (presumably) cached content. Slow or no speeds, one connection and long periods where it just won't connect.

It was really bad yesterday, acceptable last night, but seems like is going downhill again today (Only one connection right now).

Also Mweb 384k in Durban.

I'm dead in the water now. Anyone else having luck today?

Well, I got some data overnight, but it's down again here. I'm beginning to think it's intentional. Have to consider cancelling now if this is the way it's gonna be...

See,s like MWEB only allows X amount of ppl on the news server. Yesterday i was getting full line speed (384) and i had to reboot. When i reconnected it was dead and it was dead all day, it came on for me last night somewhere, but very slow (10kb). Now it is very erratic (On the same stuff that gave me full line speed yesterday)

Mine also flies from time to time and then it cannot connect to the mweb news server. Tried using my paid account server, but getting max speeds of 5kb/s even after hours.

Hi guys

i must say the mweb account has not improved one bit, still getting 4kB/s on news.mweb.co.za.

logged a ticket but no reply from mweb.

what the hell is going on Mweb?

I really hope so. Also dead for me for in Somerset West. Down to 3/4 kB/s for the last week or so...

The issue is not only Mweb's news server, it's ANY news server when using their infrastructure!! I pull mostly off Astraweb and the past few days I'm being shaped to hell a gone day and night!!! Currently it's trickling in at 7KB/s. Last night (9pm) the max I got was 50Kb/s. I've been downloading a 11GB file for 4 days now...this on a 4Mbit line

Same here for me in CT on uncapped 384. For the past 4 days or so: 0-3 Kb/s from about 6am to 10pm, 10 Kb/s from 10pm to 12am, and then + 30 Kb/s 12-6am.

This is getting really annoying.
