MWEB Abuse nonsense -

Well if they are only going to chop off people doing more than 500+gb then cool.

Seems fair for 539 too download only 400gb perhaps or maybe even 200gb. With the ways to get around shaping you can pull well over 700gb a month and i am sure there is a small minority pulling huge numbers.

You could in theory hit close to 1tb with the ways around shaping.

I think at the end of the day despite what MWEB says this just boils down to total data used - exactly the same thing what SAOL did!!! They set an untold "cap" on their uncapped product SAOL 384 uncapped package was 60GB then everyone over this got the boot!!

Okay - this is what i've established thus far - theres no way around this and i need to move over to another ISP - but which ISP?

garry lekker big mouth over at openweb.... why don't you put your gaping hole at asasa and make an example complaint ?, btw isn't int standards moving over to a 200/300 gig cap for uncapped ?

Why should I? I don't use Mweb. I never signed up because of their past behaviour and because of their business practices. Looks like I was right in doing so. The uncapped service that I am using is exactly that... uncapped.

Some US providers like Comcast and Verizon have started enforcing a limit on their "uncapped accounts" ... but they are running into their own problems with their regulators. people have started cases against them for advertising unlimited internet and then not providing it.... so yeah... they are in their own hot water.

I don't mind Mweb selling these accounts. I think the price is great. I just think they should be more honest with their terminology. Don't call the account uncapped when you don't plan in giving your customers uncapped.

Oh and what exactly does it say 'between the lines' - coz honestly i never bothered to read the terms of service and AUP. Does it explitly state that once a consumer goes over a certain threshold their subscription would be terminated?

Why can't Mweb just keep everything the same... but just change the name of the product to something more realistic and honest?

honestly i never bothered to read the terms of service and AUP.

That's a problem... you should always read the fine print. If you don't then you only have yourself to blame.

Does it explitly state that once a consumer goes over a certain threshold their subscription would be terminated?

No, there is no amount specified... only that they can cut you off if you "abuse the service" ... they decide what constitutes abuse.

Hahaha you MWEB fanboi's how all of you are defending MWEB now but had nothing good to say about them months ago. Now you worship the ground they walk on. Well don't worry most of you will probably get the "phone call" from MWEB. When you do, I bet you will change your tune.

If you support a company that is doing EXACTLY the same thing it did in the past, then don't come crying when you are fed up with them.

Precisely - they decide what constitues abuse - in my case i guess abuse was the fact that i infact legitimately managed to download up to 600GB a month without actually in fact abusing anything. Crazy country we live in! Whatever happened to good old proper service....i mean its not like i haven't been paying these guys :-)

Oh well - please can someone recommend a better ISP so i can make the phone call in the morning!

nice, punt but from safety :)

strange, but you do mind. bit of a contradiction right there.

realistically the op could have expected exactly that. i can assure you that if you raped openweb and rest of the fools follows that feel the penis need to do that, they will be forced to take same steps, maybe not now, but it will come.

i suppose, idiot train idiot; you can't expect nothing more. uncapped simply for my means not having to worry about reaching my cap, but using it as such not as a ****ing child trying to see how far the limits can be pushed. this is not testing accounts, this is an account like everything in life you should apply command decency and leave the ape **** at the door.

we all very well knew this, but as some one can never expect too much of some "humans" who always need to get away, but if caught runs to mommy and cry fowl.

it's very simple... abuse and be asked to leave. seriously you must be so ****ing retarded it's not even funny to think you pulling 600gigs is legal and allowed.

I have emailed mweb with my cancellation, and will call hem tommorrow as well. Crazy D/L at 14kbs on a 4 meg line. Time to catch a wake up call mweb. For those that think this is hotair watch this space.

Ok NECUNO- going to totally ignore that post - the guysis clearly illiterate and his command of the English language is astounding. Flippen inbreeding i tell you!
You must be the CEO of MWEB ...right??? Hiding in the broadband forums because you want to know what the public thinks of you? I certainly know how i feel about you As$wipe!
If you're not the CEO of MWEB perhaps you should apply to take over from the current CEO - and write those crappy illiterate messages all day!

Of course. I always read the fine print... and that is what myself and many others did on the day that Mweb "freed the web" ... we were not impressed with their terms and conditions and we have stayed away from these products.

strange, but you do mind. bit of a contradiction right there.

How so? If you like them and the price is right for you... I'm not gonna tell you to leave. Where have I ever done that? But at the same time there is nothing wrong with asking for truth in advertising. I think more South Africans should hold the advertisiers to their promises lest we all get ripped off. Haven't we been ripped off for long enough now? Mweb only freed the web to sucker some people into their own little enclosure. if you are happy with that then great. Not me.

Trust me... I rape OpenWeb royally every month. You can e-mail the CEO there and ask him. He is fine with it. They never complain. In fact... when Mweb launched this deal I e-mailed him and asked him what my options were given my usage and his reply was for me to stay on the Uncapped Express+ because I could download as much as I wanted and would never receive any kind of warning.

Well believe it or not... not everyone in the world is the same as you. Different people have different needs. Thank god we are not all the same as you.

we all very well knew this, but as some one can never expect too much of some "humans" who always need to get away, but if caught runs to mommy and cry fowl.

Your Mommy can't do much... but industry regulators can... and I guarantee you they will before this is all over.

it's very simple... abuse and be asked to leave. seriously you must be so ****ing retarded it's not even funny to think you pulling 600gigs is legal and allowed.

So who gets to decide what is "abuse"? some suit in an office somewhere who has never downloaded more than ten e-mails a day? Sorry, I don't buy that. There was nothing preventing Mweb from being straightforward and honest. Instead they chose to be vague and in-transparent. I have no time for such business tactics.

LOL :-) Necuno - Shame man - i pity you! Thanks everyone else for the input - found what was looking for - signing up with another ISP - oh and Necuno - isnt your sister is calling you back to bed because knowing your kind your dad just pulled out from your brother dude - and always remember Necuno - you're a dumbass!!! :-)
