MyBroadband earlier reported that IS and MWEB could merge, it appears the deal was announced.

http://portal.mweb.co.za/mailers2014/Falcon/mweb-announcement-Sept2014.html

I received this e-mail message today:

Dear MWEB Customer

Today we have announced a deal with Internet Solutions (IS), which includes the following transactions: 1.The sale of MWEB Business as a going concern to IS
2.The sale of Optinet as a going concern to IS
3.The launch of a new company, WirelessCo with IS and Multichoice as shareholders, which will house our WiFi business

We will retain our consumer ISP, MWEB Connect, and to this end there will be absolutely no change to your current service.

These transactions are all subject to approval by the Competition Commission and we expect that this process may take between 3 and 6 months to conclude.

Going forward, this deal will allow us to extract greater benefits and efficiencies by combining our underlying technology platforms with IS. At the same time we will be able to focus more closely on our consumer ISP, and ensure that we continue to offer you the kinds of online products and services so essential to your everyday lives.

We appreciate your business and look forward to your ongoing support in the future.

If you have any questions related to this transaction please do not hesitate to contact us through our normal support channels.

Kind Regards,
Derek Hershaw
CEO - MWEB ISP

I got the same email. Hopefully it doesn't cock up their service even more.

Not going back to Mweb anymore.

Only time will tell what will happen with this deal, whether it be good or bad.
