MWEB and News24 down? MWEB explains

news24.com:

"We are currently expereincing technical problems with our site. We apologise for any inconvenience. "

Very professional, but I find at least 1 spelling mistake per day by their journalists, so we can excuse the techies I suppose.

Mweb business APN is titsup on Vodacom network. Don't know if it's related, 'cos it happens monthly and always takes more than 12 hours to rectify.

MWEB IPC and News24 downtime explained :
Derek Hershaw, MWEB ISP CEO explained that the two events are related to a failure in one of their data centres in Johannesburg.
Wow! That is one of the best explanations I have heard, I now know exactly what when wrong. This guy should be a politician.

There is a reason they were onto the problem in record time - they caused it. They have probably installed something to give them more control over shaping their network.
I am getting a little peeved at MWEB for the liberties thay are allocating towards themselves with my uptime.
For those that have not yet noticed - these problems never occur during bussiness hours and only on weekends. You will also notice that when it gets fixed, no resolution is posted, and if it is it is of a vey vague nature.

Good point HBee - they should pull stunts like this at like 10 am on a Thursday - that will make things more fun.

"A data center (or data centre or datacentre) is a facility used to house computer systems and associated components, such as telecommunications and storage systems. It generally includes redundant or backup power supplies, redundant data communications connections, environmental controls (e.g., air conditioning, fire suppression) and security devices" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_center

Hahahahaha Mweb's data centre is Tier 1, like our server room except our server room provides services to 25 people. Guess IS will do for now or Mweb should have redundant engineers and technicians

Ag nee man

Struggling all of sudden to send emails again this am.
mweb SMTP server doesn't work.
Nor does the saix one connect.

What gives guys....????

A word from the CEO always calms the majority, its a psychological thing i guess...his word dont mean jack unless you get what you paid for.

Who are you with now?

Less than half the price you say?

Hmm...

Axxess Just Uncapped 4096 at R496 for two connections. I share it so works out to R248 each. We each need 100 GB per month. Been doing around 220 GB per month total.

This account, just like Mweb, isn't without it's faults, being IS, but generally works fine.

Recommended.
