MWEB and News24 down? MWEB explains

Well at least they're on the ball about fixing the problem and explaining to the public.

Agreed. MWEB responded within minutes on a Sunday ... Impressive. Problems always occur...how a company handles these situations are important.

These guys are so inconsistent. Glad I left them last year. Getting the same 4 Mbps uncapped service at less than half the price.

Error on their page:

Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

This indicates something a lot more sinister than just a network failure.

Also the sign of a mature company.

Holy crap - SA is going down the tubes, not only cant we maintain our roads and most other infrastructure, but one of the biggest ISP's cannot keep a data centre running. Did anyone mention brain drain!!!

One the bright side, at least they have the balls to state what the prob is, not like most other ISP's!!!

Still email issues.
Not receiving emails.
Cannot send using either the saix or mweb SMTP servers.

Would like to see media24's losses for today? Eina! Not good for business and not good for Mweb's reputation.
