Mweb AUP users looking for a new home

Telkom still work on my line if I log a fault with them directly...
 
So Openweb seems to get the vote for an Mweb replacement. What a pity Mweb had to turn on their customers. From hero to zero in one e-mail... Warren Buffett "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently."
 
Just came from openweb thread. If you not using the Internet during the day it seems perfect but the shaping that happens during business hours makes browsing and streaming unbearably slow.

I need isp which does not shape so aggressively and that is unthrottled
 
FYI... It seems like Telkom draws the line around the 120GB/1Mps area i.e.

1Mbps - 120GB
2Mbps - 240GB
4Mbps - 450GB

It's most likely that MWeb will look at the same sort of limits, if not a bit more. I doubt whether they can really be stricter than this. In my opinion this whole uncapped thing is nothing more than a smokescreen to shift the problems that resulted from their poor planning onto their clients thus making their clients pay for their own inefficiencies.

Transparency is non existent when it comes to 'Uncapped'. Telkom have the same approach in that 'they' will decide what you get for you money. You are just a client, nothing more.
 
Moved to Afrihost 2 months ago. I am a very happy customer so far.

Reason for move: pings spiked constantly. intermittent browsing experience (one minute I can stream 720p, the next 144p needs buffering)

Stuff like that

To be honest, if I had a 10mb account I'd probably also download in the region of 300gb a month. I doubt I would need much more than that.

This is not true.
Only P2P and heavy downloading gets throttled and it gets throttled between 8am and 5 only then everything flies... I'm on openweb and stream a lot of youtube and browse mostly during the day and download/game at night and I have not felt any throttling on my usage.

120GB is perfect for me on 1mb.

I received the e-mail and my ave since last year Nov is 91gb. I had 2 "high" months of just over 130GB. But most of them were less than 90gb. And I'm called an abuser.

Unless you want a 10mb/s account there's also the Openweb Gold Leon which is 4mb/s

I only download what I want to watch and I don't have a lot of free time. So the volumes are low but I have gone over 500 gig in a month in the past...

Simply not true. My browsing and streaming is always absolutely perfect. The only protocols that are shaped is downloads and they also do not throttle on any of their accounts.

They also unshape their almost every weekend as well as most weeknights.
 
In your experience what time during the week does the shaping tend to taper off? I'm thinking on the vanilla and standard accounts.

I invested a lil more and got the Gold account on my account with OW and once 5pm hits it's always 100% until around 7:30-7:45am :)

With Mweb I never got full speed at any time. I know, I have a problem with insomnia. Mweb call it "congestion" nowadays.

Mostly it starts to taper off anywhere from 5PM in the afternoons. However, some days I don't even realise I'm being shaped, because the shaping can be pretty lenient.

Depends what account you have. Gold works perfectly all times of the day.
