MWEB Business Uncapped ADSL advertisement under fire

The biggest problem with MWEB Uncapped ADSL is not the service itself, it is the fact that users do not read what they are buying.

Often people on Home Uncapped complain about high ping times and low throughputs - why didn't you get Internet Addict then ?
Now people are complaining about the 12 month contract on Business Uncapped - whats the problem? Failed your English Comprehension exam in high school ?

I think the BCSA should force advertisments like these to contain signs, just like the age restrictions, but rather the number represents the IQ level required before viewing the add.
But I geuss there is nothing wrong with asking mweb nicely to just make it clearer. It seems there is an obvious need for it, because atleast one guy couldnt get it.
 
They should also force airport companies and travel agents to include airport taxes in flight prices, it's not like you have a choice in paying the airport tax so why the hell split it up?

I hope this supposed Consumer Protection Act which is coming will force companies to stop their deceptive advertisement practices.

Isn't the ASA the same body that suspended the TV ad of that "Boerizza" (?) special from Roman's Pizza?

I guess a little more clarity will not do any harm. I am just a bit ticked off by all the bad press that M-Web gets. They are the most awesome ISP in the universe. Last month I did 350GB and it only cost me R500, and do you know what M-Web had to say about that? Nothing - they did not complain one bit. AUP and Fair Usage? None of that nonsense with M-Web, just uncapped internet exactly like they advertise it. The best part is that even on the last day of the month I was still able to transfer at 430kb/s - no soft caps or other crap. Now how many other ISPs can say they offer the same type of service ?

MWEB really seem to be the only guys who are able to sustain uncapped accounts to an acceptable extent. There are complaints, of course, but it forms only a small fraction of the total complaints which usually involve other ISPs who jumped on the uncapped bandwagon too early.
 
True, but again most of the complaint I have seen boils down to people not reading what they are buying. The majority of complaints so far have been from Home Uncapped users regarding slow speeds during business hours, bad ping times and the throttling of P2P and RapidShare. If only they read what the Internet Addict package is for they would realize that if they want unshaped and unthrottled internet 24/7 with the lowest ping times possible then Internet Addict (not Home Uncapped) is the correct package for them.
 
I'm surprised there have not been thousands more complaints about the shoddy "uncapped" services which are being promoted as a "bargain" price. While I am very happy to see price reductions I am not happy to see consumers mislead over these products and terminology.
 
Wow Gary, now that is something special you got there. Lets see what it proves, firstly it proves that you are very good at searching and copying and pasting. It also proves that other people have got the skills to bitch and moan and produce suitable output that gets picked up by your search criteria. Now that is what I call fine and dandy, well done to you all.

Now, while you were doing all that, this is what I managed on the very same MWeb package that you guys complain about. Just to put it into perspective for you, thats an average download rate of 107kb/s over the last 38 days and an average upload rate of 20kb/s. I guess you could say I have superior skills, or maybe just STFU and admit MWeb uncapped kicks da ballix considering you get all that for only R500. :wtf:

This is on a Home Uncapped account - if you want low ping times you need to get Internet Addict.

How are you experiencing it this month. It's definitely more shaped than last month? My usage for last month looks the same as yours but I have really been struggling with general browsing and obviously downloads from the beginning of the month. I don't use P2P but now that they are shaping Hotfile i need something else.

What can you suggest?
 
Hotfile is shaped along with RapidShare but SharingMatrix and the rest seems to be OK still. I am doing a lot more than last month. By the 8th of last month I did about 50GB but this month I am already on 62GB so it is a lot better I would say.

You must be joking, i guarantee there are more than 20% of people that signed up with them in March 2010 (including me) that has canceled their accounts cause they cant sustain uncapped accounts (why pay R 600 a month for 384kbps speed?). Their support is horrible and they only want to uncap your bank account. IS is still the leader in stable uncapped adsl, Seacom will need a few years before their true potential will come through.

How well did IS hold up when the SEACOM problems arose? IS uncapped was so bad at one point that Axxess removed the offering from their list of products. Anyway, I'm on an IS (capped) account but from what I've read on the forums MWEB seems to be the most stable (cheap) uncapped provider.
