Hi guys

I couldnt find anything about this on google, anyways I would just like to know if MWEB will be following suit and upgrading the cap on their capped accounts as Telkom have done? (ie. 5gb -> 9gb)?

Cheers

^^^^lol....available bandwidth?i dont know....ur cap man....lol

I haven't heard anything official regarding this yet, I'm sure if there are any changes planned for our capped products that it will be announced in due course.

yeah for sure....its just a bit *** that telkom have increased caps.....yet mweb are taking a while to come up with a competitive product.....and considering mweb capped accounts are shaped their booster charges are ridiculuous!! seeing as though we talking about mweb and that....R99 for 1.5gbs of data is an absolute rip-off!

wat does it cost to downgrade your data package with MWEB?....cuz if they don't come with alternative to telkoms 9gb accounts.....i will move to telkom or go buy my cap from axxess for R19 a gb, including topups!

Hi razor

Thanks for the feedback, I will certainly pass it on to our products team who review our offerings and pricing on a regular basis. The announcement of Telkom's cap increases was very recent and we do not recieve any advanced notification on their changes in product offerings.

Kind Regards

no problem mweb!!

i realise the cap increases may be bit more difficult to implement and take more time, but your booster package costs are the reason i have looked elsewhere for additional cap!

The offering used to be 1gb for R99!!! and now for the same price you get an extra 500megs! I feel that definately needs to be revised!

anyways thanks for the response! appreciate the effort!

Seeing that MWEB have only left bottom end capped accounts intact for very light users, I doubt they will adjust their capped product. They are not in the capped and uncapped game, their product is uncapped, their capped is like an appendix, a small useless organ left behind when we all moved on from our caves. Their intention will be to try move clients onto their uncapped platform.

If you want a decent capped product rather look at Axxess or evolve into using uncapped, it's only a tiny bit more each month.

It works out to a massive R49 more per month.

a whopping R49?? u my friend must be stuck in a cave and i think you should evolve! such an ignorant post for some1 with a post count of 725!

i am on real ADSL - 4mb not 384k, so before you come with your smartass comments get your facts straight, it is not an extra R49 a month its an extra R400 a month!

As I am not a bandwidth whore i can live with 20gigs a month and dont need uncapped and their shaping and instability, I would rather have 20 gigs of unshaped data.

im sure their intention won't be to lose customers and if they wont be able to match telkoms cap increases they will!!

9gbs of cap with 30gigs local is more than enough for an average home user!

My apologies I assumed that anybody using up to 3 gigs capped would be a 384k user. I am not going to get into the bad cost benefit of a 4Mb line and tiny cap, but it's kind of like having a Ferrari with 1 litre of fuel per month.

Let me start by saying that MWEB are now pretty much whole heartedly in the uncapped game, the mentality of Uncapped is only for hundreds of gigs a month needs to change. Please understand that most people who have moved to uncapped have done so that they don't have to babysit their usage, not so that they can copy the internet.

Secondly the shaping only negatively affects bulk download protocols. And out of the many thousands of new clients MWEB has only very few(about a handful) are complaining.

The truth is that uncapped is the only practical way forward for many reasons, and to focus on the ISP portion only would be silly. Having a line for R135 + R413 and then complaining about the R145 portion that the ISP bills isn't rational.

I promise you are bound to be disappointed by MWEBs' response to Telkoms' little handout.

I won't comment further in the thread, but don't get your knickers in a knot about post count, I promise it isn't a good measure for cranium or penis size.:D

much like the 10Mbps upgrade, wasn't there some lead time in terms of speculation? and from what seemed to be credible speculation?

i recognise you are not a products specialist, but if you are sent to MyBB it seems strange to me you would not be armed with current and future product info. Hence why I find your statements ingenious. MyBB users expected these Telkom changes. To say that the factual announcement being recent is what is the hindrance smacks of maximising profits.

Users waited ages before the rumour of 10Mbps was confirmed. ISPs say, oh we only heard about it now.
Users waited ages before the rumour of increased cap packages from SAIX was confirmed. Other ISPs only now we are looking at it.

I commend Mweb on the one point of starting a look around uncapped (though I still disagree with that and think they should go with the Belgium model of Fair Use packages)

The right and left hand don't know what the other's doing. What do you do with 30gb local cap. Could not yet find a use. Even my email's hosted international.

fair enough...i do agree...ur cave and evolution comments were wat got to me! neways if i could afford to get uncapped on 4mb i would! however if i can get an extra 4gbs for the same price which i am currently paying....i would prefer that.....

I think you need to get out of your cave and see that these days 20Gb usage does not make you a bandwith whore. It's people like you that keep real uncapped products from appearing, as there are far too many people still in South Africa that feel guilty if they have to use the internet. I think if you ever go overseas or even go see what happens in the real world outside your cave you will get a heart attack.

my gracious this is just getting pathetic!.....if u have nothin constructive to say towards the topic of thread then dont comment...

i lived in france and i felt the benefit of a 12mb uncapped line....so dont come with if you lived overseas BS....fact is we are not overseas and i personally feel i can deal with 20gbs a month....that is my opinion....

how does people like me keep uncapped products from appearing??whatwhat u r a chop....i cannot afford an extra R400 a month just to get uncapped internet....when the prices go down yes of course i will...it is the way forward....

neways there is nothin wrong with me wanting mweb to equal telkoms capped data package increases so i can get more bang for my buck....

reiterate: if u have nothin positive to contribute to this thread please do not post!

Why would Mweb want to match Telkom? They're focusing on uncapped while telkom sticks to capped - just because they're both ISP's doesn't mean they're under any obligation to match them product for product and price for price.

If telkom are offering you better bang for your buck, use telkom?

I suspect the OP is already with MWeb, and if there is something in the pipeline, then it's easier to stay with the ISP he's currently using, so his query was an attempt to find out if it's worth waiting for MWeb to improve their packages or if he should move. Makes sense to me - what I don't understand is the need to attack someone because they choose to use a capped package when a significant number of the posts made here are people bitching about shaping and throttling on their uncapped products.

By the way, the fact that ISPs wish to sell their products to consumers means that there is a certain level of obligation to match each other.
