Relax, I think she is just guessing. She is just a company spokesperson for one of the more expensive ISPs. She does not make the final decisions regarding pricing! I guarantee you it will be cheaper by a much bigger factor before the year end.

This mentality I cannot understand.

Perhaps a 50% price drop doesn't live up to your expectations, but saying that paying R400 for a service is the same as paying R200 is ridiculous.

I'm somewhat surprised that MWEB is willing to publicly set this expectation.

If you really don't want to pay less for the service and if prices do drop just take the extra money you have at the end of the month and flush it down the loo. Just stop complaining when things actually improve.

One indicator whether MWeb is really prepared to go the extra mile for its customers or it's just sales talk, might be whether it passes on last week's MTN data improvements to its many MTN Wireless Broadband customers.

I've put in a query to MWeb's sales asking whether they will now pass on MTN's decision to allow data rollovers, and despite a standard promise to get back on queries fast, four days on and so far niks nie. Let's see -- but perhaps not a good idea to hold our breath!

Just got this in my e-mail.

Dear MWEB Member

Since the 1st of February 2008, we’ve given all MWEB ADSL customers access to unlimited FREE Local-only ADSL data at no additional cost.

Local-only ADSL data allows you to enjoy continued access to locally-hosted websites and content in South Africa, after you have used up your monthly standard ADSL cap.

As from the 1st of May 2009, you will receive 10GB of FREE Local-only ADSL data per month. Any usage thereafter will be charged at 3c per megabyte. This is not a capped service and we will notify you once you’ve used your FREE allocation.

So... three cents per megabyte... that's around R30.00 a Gigabyte.
