MWEB does it again with uncapped ADSL price-cuts

Maybe Telkom already informed the ISPs under NDA about the 384kbs to 1Mbs upgrades so MWEB is jumping the gun with some PR spin that makes them look good as they know the minimum entry level ADSL will be 1Mbs in future. So they hop on the bandwagon and makes it seem like they are the catalyst.

Either way, and bandwidth price reduction is a good thing. Hope others follow.

This price-cut creates the curious situation where MWEB’s 384kbps product is priced the same as the ISPs 1Mbps service. However, this is a planned initiative to boost entry-level broadband speeds to 1Mbps.

MWEB ISP CEO, Derek Hershaw said that it is in-line with their aim to make 1Mbps Uncapped ADSL the new entry-level uncapped product in South Africa.

“We would like to see 1Mbps uncapped packages become the new entry-level product for local Internet users,” said Hershaw.

Awesome. Just got a free modem, now this!

Go MWEB!

With the 'imminent' increase in Telkom speed (384->1024, 1024->2048 or something?), I wonder what the upgraded 1024 uncapped account equivalent (2meg, more?) will cost. Any ideas?

/I reckon they've finally redeemed themselves from the whole unlimited local data saga :)

**** yea! MWEB keeps being the first at actually being consumer-centric instead of focussing on mom&pop operations and hoping they won't notice being ripped off. GO MWEB.... SUCK IT ALL OTHER ISPS
