Mweb dsl line with telkom voice?

Hi all,

Is it possible to rent my dsl line through Mweb and still have my telkom telefone service?
So I'll just have two accounts with both of them? I want to transfer the dsl rental to mweb but my parents still need the telephone line.

Think twice before you move your dsl line to MWEB. You WILL end up with major head aces further down the road. As bad as you think Telkom is, it's way worse when MWEB manages the line. Two months now, I've been without my dsl line, MWEB shrugs shoulders and plays the "notice period" card, while the are unable to resolve the matter with Telkom. I fell for the "move your line to MWEB" con, paying the price dearly.

same with any ISP, still way better to keep it with Telkom and you get better help when they see you their customer

Why don't you simply apply for your own service on a separate pair? Then you can do as you please without negatively impacting on your parents service. When the time comes and you want to move your service somewhere else, it will be a relatively simple matter. There is no rule that says only one service is allowed per property.

At the same time, I suggest you think very carefully about getting any other ISP to manage your line as well.

Hi, so your internet stopped when you migrated the line? I don't see how there can be any down time for this. Some other ISP's says the migration is instant. Not sure if it's the migration or just the adsl service though.

Line goes into a Telkom holding pool and then new ISP is to be informed hereof so that they can pick it up. If no communication from the client that line is in holding pool then the line can go into suspended status. It's an admin process and not physical line movement.

If you do not want to interfere with your parents voice line then you can request Telkom to install a separate voice line on your name. (same premises)
