Hi there

We are using multiple ADSL accounts, and our email settings work perfectly on all of them. When we use the MWEB account, however, emails will not send and it asks for login details again.

We can solve the problem by changing authentication for outgoing email server, but that means that it does not work for other accounts.

Is there a way to solve the problem that it works for MWEB and other ADSL accounts?

Would need a bit more details

Are you by default using authentication or not,are multiple accounts active and router(s) are load balancing traffic?

Good Morning rpm,

Please provide me some more details pertaining to your query:

As PsyWulf asked: Are you by default using authentication or not?
are multiple accounts active and router(s)

Please also inbox me your MWEB account details, I can then perhaps arrange a technical call back for you.

@Uncle rpm, sometimes I find that using the proper "My Account" login details, combines with the smtpauth.mweb.co.za address works better than the default smtp.mweb.co.za

Some people are still using default SMTP ports. Change your SMTP port to 587 instead and try again.

The problem comes in when you have your own mail server, some ISP's had to take it upon themselves to "reroute" port 25 traffic (which isn't the real SMTP port according to RFC anyway) via their own mail servers to stop spam (virusses/malware on client PC's)

This helps them not get their own servers on the spam-list and control outgoing mail in a way.

(not saying that's the real problem, just something to try)

Thanks for the feedback.

Maybe some clarity: We are all using our own POP3 mail servers (hence not MWEB mail).

I think Acidrazor is on the right track (thanks for the feedback) - will see if the changes make any difference.

If you are using a mail server outside your provider's network then you should always change the port to 587 to avoid being caught by spam prevention mechanisms.

Of course - in an ideal world the providers would also use anti spam systems that don't mangle the traffic so badly. ;)
