I have been a customer of Mweb since grandma fell of the buss. The fibre installation in my suburb is now almost complete and we are swamped by ISP's trying to get us onto their account. They contact us with beautifully laid out quotes. I don't want to move away from Mweb since we run two businesses and VOIP telephones that our customers are acquainted with. I have been nagging Mweb now for the last two weeks but the disinterest that the show is alarming. There can be no problem as my current ADSL is with them over Telkom lines and Telkom is one of the companies involved with our fibre installation. Are they contented to watch the small jackals nibbling away at their customer base.

Mweb is doing you a favor. Their fibre and customer service is horrible. I used to be a client too.

If you can, try to avoid Openserve fibre. Use Vumatel or Octotel, simply because the packages are cheaper and of better quality. There are many ISP's that offer VOIP services, so that should not even be a concern. Porting a number is quick.

PLEASE pay the extra money for a Business service. The extra money isn't wasted once something goes wrong. Business clients get prioritized response by engineers and support.

Out of personal experience, I would NOT recommend: Mweb, Telkom, Vox, Afrihost.

I've been with MWEB for +/- 20 years as the technology changed and I guess I'm lucky, never had any really bad experiences. I'm on fibre now via Vumatel and that went in relatively painlessly (this in Fourways).

I had a few technical issues, mainly on the router/access point side, nothing to do with MWEB or Vumatel, just a complicated set up with extenders, etc.

My only gripe is the long hold on their call centre to get assistance, sometimes it's a half hour wait. But again, the issues were mine.

On the sales side they have always been responsive and my upgrade from ADSL to fibre was done on the same day over the phone. Other upgrades from different packages were also processed the same day.

So it's a case of YMMV I think.

lol @ "YMMV". If that were the case, the feedback pages on Mweb would be a shining beacon of love, right? ;)
