MWEB Gaming Feedback

Will the peering arrangements mean that people on saix and mtn accounts won't get decent pings to your black ops servers?

That's unfortunately a possibility Qwikslver, unless we establish peering relationships with them before the launch.

Hey at least they're honest, the answer we would have gotten form the others would be deafening silence or some corporate BS like "our customers are important to us and we are looking in the problem, we will update you when our team has worked on the problem".

@ Will.

Will we need to pay for Black Ops servers and/or a spot on the servers?
Or if i buy the game can i just play on mweb servers that are already running and if so, how many servers or player slots will mweb have. Dont need exactly number, just wanna know if its gonna be like 1, 3 of over 10.

Please let us know, allot of players seem to be a bit confused still about the gameserver thing.

Can you maybe start a new thread to ask these questions?
Sorry dude, just trying to keep it relevant.

Oh im sorry, this is about mweb gaming not wow exclusively.
Also, it has already been said that the network team wont progress with the latency issues today because of the peering thing.
That being said, 95% of my posts have been in this thread, about WoW till now, one of the ppl who actually am trying to help in figuring this out.

kk /rant off :)

I am aware that you are one of the many trying to sort things out mate.
I just thought it would be better for all to have a thread a thread about the new Black OPS server offering.
But i may be wrong:D

No cost other than the Game, my understanding is that there will be servers in Cape Town and JHB so both our North and South customers can get the best possible experience. The servers will be open to all comers, obviously experience will be dependent on peering links in place. This is being done in partnership with Gameservers.com so it will be their servers on our network and I'm sure that this is just the first of many exciting things that we'll see in this area.

EDIT: Sorry i missed one of your questions - I'm not sure exactly how many servers there will be in each location, but I'm sure the answer is enough :)

Will this include PS3,XBox,PC and Wii?

Guys just in the interests of leaving no stone unturned, I've just been chatting to another WoW player at the office here about the various post patch issues and bugs and he says that it is also vital that everyone applies the Leatrix registry fixes for latency - can I safely assume that you've all done this?

Hi Will,

registry fix was one of the first things I tried when the problems started. Also checked with our senior network engineers to see if they have any other suggestions. Didn't notice much, if any, improvements.

Yeh will, Latency fix is applied for me and all my friends with the issue. Very nice to hear about mweb Black Ops servers too.
Just one more question, if im on Mweb account and i join the Mweb black ops servers, there will be no issue with latency in regards to the peering thing right? I mean, location (i live in PE) wont matter?

Black Ops while WoW gets fixed is good enough at least :)

Wow related: I havent been able to get in contact with the WTfast admin again, the port changes they made (which makes the game super fast) is still only on their test server, so i can play for now on that at least. Their normal servers are still on port 10800 and very bad latency with mweb only (not with other ISPs). Hope they put that change on all servers, but i will let you know as soon as i get a response.

Edit: Nvm , i saw this post http://mybroadband.co.za/news/gaming/16225-MWEB-CoD-Black-Ops-Gameservers-deal-confirmed.html All the answers i need. Thank you

I have applied latency fix, but this does little to solve the problem. 18:00 hit and latency made the game unplayable. Unfortunately for me all my characters are in Dalaran at the moment and I am now DCing if I try to log onto them - if things go according to precedent Friday 18:00 to Monday 08:00 will be unplayable for WoW. This means I cannot log onto the site at all - awesome! Thanks, MWeb!

This morning WoW latency has been awesome - under 600ms and sometimes under 400ms. Not sure what is different, but I am able to play the game again. :D Hopefully this lasts a while.

For some reason, I've noticed that lower level characters have quite decent ms but my level 80's all have impossibly high ms :?

also, I just tested with a few other acc's (my friends) and I had fine ms on all of them, I'll email blizz and see if theres some sort of change in how the data streams are handled :?

That's great news WGS I hope it stays that way as well.

Something else I found out which may shed some light or be of interest is that South African players should have a much better experience on Realms which are hosted in Paris. I was chatting to a WoW player on Friday who says they have actually moved their entire Guild to a Paris based server and the change is very noticeable. In terms of the people having the worst problems here I'd be interested to know where your Realm is located - the information is available on this list:
