MWEB Gaming Feedback

Ok /rant over, it's just pixels anyways but I am still pissed off about it. When the backup plan fails and there is nothing one can do about it, it is just frustrating.

Valid rant Steven - mind if I have a little one of my own :)

It will be interesting to see if Blizzard is forthcoming with any acknowledgement of this issue, or resolution from their side. Consider the fact that they changed their netcode in a way that was significant enough to affect their customers spread across several large ISPS and then stood back and made almost no attempt acknowledge the problem, or offer any assistance in resolving the matter. In as much as we have a responsibility to go the extra mile and try and figure these things out for our customers, as we have done for the past few weeks now, Blizzard has a responsibility to be more open with impacted 3rd parties and assist in coming up with solutions. It's our network, but it's their application.

How long do we need to wait still before we can continue playing wow with propper latency using mweb uncapp again?

Valid rant Will, it's one of the reasons I haven't completely stripped my moer yet :P

I for one appreciate the fact that you guys are going the extra mile to make it work. Hopefully this MTU solution is going to set us on the path to a long term solution. Or Blizzard take their heads out of their arses.

@Shirou please try the fix i provided a few posts back, it worked consistently for me and initial testing by StevenC seemed to provide the same results. Unfortunately my LVL 1 Prot Pala LFG Black Temple fell on deaf ears so you guys will have to take the testing to the next level :D

Ok I have read a guy has spoken to a few GM's which state that blizzard are aware of this issue and another hotfix will be deployed similarly like last week. I have recived similar feedback from a GM on my ticket as well. I have a GM who plays in my guild, I will poke him today as well to get some more clarification.

Hopefully this Wednesday! There isn't much time left to raid and we are still working on LK 25H so I would really like to see a fix soon!

Ok Will, whats up with modern warfare 2 ping at the moment. Its like being connected to international players.... Going to try reboot my router to see if it helps. But I noticed on speed test all the ISP ho have not peered with MWEB ping at 500ms or more....

Hey Will,

Ran the MTU patch and I'm currently in Ironforge on Dunemaul with 348ms latency :)

Set MTU to 750 after a little testing, increased my network load a bit but improved latency a lot.

Obviously, it's a quick fix, but hell, at least it works.

Ok well Local gaming is stuffed now

Tried to play battlefield BC2 on wages servers tonight and the latency was unplayable
guess we are the casualties of the peering WAR

Hey Will,

you aware of any changes that was made today, that might impact WoW latency? Was still having issues last night, but played the whole day today, without adjusting MTU. Latency was below 400ms, after 18:00 it spiked but the highest I've had so far is 520ms :D

I played for the whole of Friday with about the same (400ish) then on Sat it suddenly jumped up again, only went down when I changed my MTU. Seems a bit erratic.

Hmmm, was hoping something was fixed. But for the moment at least I'm enjoying the low latency. Will try MTU settings if it starts spiking again.

I had 260ms for a few moments then it went 3k and I dcd on 750. Does not work on 1000, 1480 for me.

Unfortunately that's because it is an international ping. If there's no peering in place then the traffic routes over international links, do a trace to the servers and you will see if its going through CINX or JINX, or internationally.

No changes on our side no, maybe Blizzard have improved something?

It seems that 960 is the magic number being thrown around on certain Blizzard forum threads.

Logged on about 15 minutes ago to over 5k ms on MWEB and I thought, oh damn here we go again..but then I was pleasantly surprised to see spell casts were responsive. I went to Heroic Sethekk Halls (Anzu mount you will be MINE) where latency hovered at the 2k mark and then dropped down to about 600ms, all the while being decently responsive.

Back in Dalaran, shot up to 2k ms once again, but still responsive. Getting a lot of the people lag though (twitching all over the screen). Ported over to Stormwind for some Dia da los muertos festivities and it has all gone to ***** :P Heavily populated areas are extremely laggy but no d/c yet.

Sorry Will, back to work for you! :P

Me too. Yesterday and this evening was very good - and got my Battered Hilt back from Blizz, so good day all round :D.

I really don't know what to make of that, busy Dalaran on Dunemaul and a serious hive of activity in StormWind on Lightbringer and I haven't seen it climb over 630 - it's definitely working for me. I have also installed some basic addons now, MobMap, Titan Panels and ThrottleUI and they don't seem to be having any impact.

@Will

Thank you for your constant feedback. I have quitely been following this thread, but I feel we are going around in circles.

I have been playing WoW since day one, started playing on a 56k dailup connection. It was not pretty, but hell, it was more playable than my mweb 4meg uncapped shaped account after 6pm. 5:55pm, its fine. After that, it goes to hell. Now please explain that . Why is wow perfectly playable with a Webafrica shaped account. Phone them, liaise. Do something. They have apprently fixed what Mweb cannot.

No one can blame Blizzard - Blizzard is not letting me play perfectly from 7am - 5:59pm and then decide to mess up my fun after 6pm. No. That is on your side. What does it take? Me cancelling my Mweb account is not going to make a difference, but please, just tell us why your shaping services are kicking in at 6pm?

Will, you are the man. You have been a beacon of light in this thread. Every day I just log in after work to see if there was progress. Log into wow and BAM....5k + after 6pm. Undo what evil has been done to my game by Mweb. a few weeks ago, wow was perfectly fine 24/7 on my mweb account. Now, I have to get another account to play a game.

this sux man. Just tell us you guys dont know, or please fix it :(

So fustrated....

edit: I am a really positive that Mweb will eventually sort this out, at this moment, I am just fustrated with what I get for my R400+ from MWeb. But again. Your feedback is really valued Will!
