So, for the most part I'm happy with Mweb as my gaming ISP, it's stable 90% of the time so what's not to like. Problem is the other 10% of the time, which includes at the moment. I normally have a ping of 270 odd in DDO but every 2 weeks some rubbish starts. First, the ping will jump to 300 for a couple days, then it will hit 350 for a couple more and then the packet loss goes from 0% to anything from 7% - 33%. So basically, it degrades until it's unplayable.

I want to know exactly what it is that is causing this and why it happens like clockwork. I do know that any other ISP carries on as normal while this happens and that any mention of a London link issue being cleared up gets rid of the problem, so it's obvious that that is where the crap lies. Please could Mweb gaming look into this issue and instead of doing a temp fix, maybe fix it once and for all? I'm tired of it happening all the time

Much thanks

Having used many uncapped accounts i have now decided uncapped is not ideal for gaming.

They do not give it priority. So i have a 10gb axxess account for gaming.

Get sat3 bandwidth for outside south africa gaming, for you in durban only way to get it is with webafrica.

Uh no thanks, I'd rather they fix the problem once and for all instead of having to pay for additional bandwidth on top of what I'm already paying.

Mweb Uncapped gives me the best pings for international gaming compared to any other ISP, and is on par with every unshaped account I've used. When playing League of Legends on European servers I used to get:

SAIX - 300 ping
Afrihost/Axxess - 250 to 300
Mweb Uncapped - 180 to 200

why it happens like clockwork

Can you actually set your watch to it?

Have you tested other games as well? Could just be DDO?

It is just DDO, that's the problem that needs fixing, I've had this ongoing for a good while now. It's solely Mweb when it happens and I will bet anything that it has to do with the London or Durban link because like I said, around the time it gets fixed, there is usually some word of the London or Durban link having had a hiccup.

Hi Mephisto_Helix,

Thank you for the information. I have escalated this to the relevant department and once I have feedback, I will inform you thereof.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

It is just DDO

My response to that would be it's more than likely something to do with the DDO servers. Mweb Guy is following up for you but I find it highly unlikely that they have intermittent performance issues for one game. More likely that DDO has issues but I guess we'll find out.
