I currently have a simple site Hosted with MWEB which costs me R29. I have had a quick look around and for some reason i cannot find anything better for the same price anywhere?

Should i rather stay with MWEB or is there something better?

P.S. simple wordpress website

If I may ask, is there any specific reason why you would have a website and not be happy with paying R29 per month? Just out of interest.

If i could maybe get more for less or the same price else where why wouldn't i? i generally don't have any issues with them except i have noticed my site has gone down a couple times for about and hour or two over the passed 2 months already

Yep, this is generally a problem faced by all South African hosts, even abroad. Remember, you get what you pay for.

My recommendation, if you have a small website you are playing around with or just want to place online to brag that you have one, these R29 hosting providers are perfect.

Remember, you are on a shared server, hundreds or thousands of other websites are hosted along with yours, so naturally speeds will be slow between all of them, the server will experience downtime, often once per day is not uncommon, especially hosting providers who cram as many clients they can onto a single server.

If you are serious about your website, it generates an income for you and you do get a lot of traffic, these type of services are useless. Rather look offshore at VPS, or even dedicated servers at proper hosting companies, such as Hostgator. Yes, they may also experience problems, but their backbones include telecoms providers such as AT&T who are light years ahead of SA companies. Data Centers abroad are managed by much more experienced people than is available in SA. Besides, no SA company's support can even compare remotely with that of services such as Hostgator.

I have my own dedicated server and checking my stats, my last downtime was 1120 days ago. So, not bad at all for me.

Nah its not a serious website for me, the biggest use i have for it is basically email which i am using Google Apps for anyway (Lucky to get in there when it was Free for small businesses) but other than that its just a basic website that i haven't really done anything with it for a while. I was having a look at the Cybersmart Pink Package (Free) but they don't have the ability to point it to external mail, so i will most likely go with the Blue which is R18 a month.
