For the last few days when I've tried to play Magicka online with a mate of mine the latency has been horrible, +- 600ms :wtf:. He is on IS and I am on Mweb, but we have never had an issue before. Anybody else having problems?

Good Afternoon erMaC

Are you and your friend having the same experience using an IS or MWEB account?

I think Magicka is self hosted. i.e. Its a direct link from one person (IS) to the other (MWEB). Might be wrong about this....maybe magicka uses central servers too.

Thanks for the information havocXphere much appreciated.

The situation is as follows. I am hosting using an mweb account, he is using an IS account. HavocXphere is correct it is a direct connect game. We use Steam to find each other's games.

This might be a peering related issue erMaC, is this something that used to work for you previously? If you can show me a tracert result between yourself and your friend it might help us to identify the cause of the problem.

Don't think it is a peering issue and yes it used to run fine.

My friend and I play Magicka together
He uses Mweb and I use Afrihost (IS) or cybersmart
and I get anywhere between 30 - 150 ms

Thanks for that Big Bean

I've had our engineers look at the issue erMac is experiencing and they can't determine any specific problem that might be causing this.

Thanks Big Bean and Will. We will give it a try again this weekend, it makes no sense what so ever.
