MWEB on HelloPeter

He most likely works for Afrihost, which people have been leaving in droves after their move to MTN. :p

I should hope Afrihost have more class than that.

See there is no (not even 1) good reason to post something like this

Yes, there is no possible good reason that customers should be better informed. You seem afraid of information, your comment makes me suspect you must work for MWEB. There is no (not even 1) good reason to post the comment you made.

Who do you work for?

not an ISP like you obviously. im not the one spamming stuff against one ISP. to be fair you need to spam against them all then. your posts are stacked very much against MWEB and unfairly so. yes the complaints are valid but unfair because the complaints against the other ISP's are not here.

so if you want to be consumer champion you need to make everyone with complaints look bad.

You people seriously need to lay off the tinfoil hat stuff, it would be funny if it wasn't so sad and pathetic. Poisoning the well is a logical fallacy in any case. If you can't attack what someone is saying, then attack the person.

I'm posting about MWEB because I had horrific service experience with them. Comparing all ISPs is a good idea though, I just had not thought of it.

Can I ask that you provide MWEB Guy your contact details via a private message and give us a fair opportunity to address your complaint, as every one of the customers listed in your above extract has done.

Thanks
Will

Been there done that, I have given MWEB more than "fair opportunity" to fix the problems. I think two months of struggling with technicians that seem to only play "blame the customer" is "fair opportunity".

Maybe it is just what it looks like - an ISP that used to be good is going down.

The experience you have had with us does not sounds.

Please allow me a chance to get to the bottom of this for you.

The fact is that MWEB has a *** load of customers and will therefore naturally receive a relatively large number of complaints. It's easy to point fingers if you ignore the thousands of happy customers.

Happy MWEB Customer here, so I won't pay any attention to that Hello Peter complaints list. People find easier to complain than to compliment, which is probably why you'll find more negative threads on HP than positive ones. If MWEB has a client base of 100 000, for example, and you find 10 000 complaints, it could mean that the other 90 000 are happy with the service, or just haven't thought it was so bad that they needed to complain. Either way, I'm happy with MWEB, so you can chalk up one more "compliment". Besides, if you look around MyBB, I've seen more complaints about Afrihost and Cybersmart than i have about MWEB.

Extremely satisfied with the performance of my Mweb account. On 1mb uncapped for over a year, now on 2mb uncapped for nearly 4 months. Never had issues.

Regarding Hello Peter, many friends and family who work/own some pretty big companies have all given up with the site. Really not worth their time with the utter garbage thats posted on there. Easier ways to get something done, just need to flip that switch :)

I up until very recently had issues with MWEB for the last 2 months. Poor latency in online games (of which they tout as the highest priority on the network) and not taking notice of similar complaints. Had access to an Openweb Gold Uncapped account which worked perfectly which points all blame to MWEB and nothing on Telkom. Thankfully those issues stopped about 2 weeks back so I am once again a happy customer.

One thing I cannot fault MWEB on is their prompt response to complaints. Nothing will ever be perfect and especially with a large network like MWEBs you can expect things to go bump in the night. They are currently the most consistent ISP I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

Also super happy with my MWEB account. I think the problem with hellopeter is that if people are unhappy then it's easier for them to complain about something as opposed to them actually complimenting them for fantastic service (I'm guilty myself).

See below, this tonsil is complaining about 67Mbps on a 2 Mbps line....WOW

Still getting ripped off by MWEB - no response
Used to pay R588 / month for a 1meg speed, then MWEB dropped the 1meg price to R488 (because they're so kind you know?) & then about 2 weeks ago they call me up & offer me a 2meg speed at the old price I was paying of R588 - I couldn't refuse. Was told that in 30mins I must restart my router & I would be on the 2meg speed. 2 weeks later & I have still not experienced any 2meg speed - in fact my speed is more sluggish than ever. So did a speedtest & got 67mbps - so I called tec support & complained - they couldn't help & said accounts would call me Monday. They left me a very fuzzy message & then never followed up. Then i emailed complaints. By 18:30pm Tues still no response & tests show 45meg ! Wed I get a call from MWEB saying "problem resolved" so I test & get 1,67mbps much closer to 2meg but still not great. So left it like this. Thurs eve was slow again so did a test & got 64mbps - backwards again here we go? Friday came & went - no response from MWEB complaints. Saturday morning did another test & got 26mbps - just gets worse by the day. At time of writing this it is 17:10pm on Sat & still no response from the allmighty MWEB.
