MWEB Price Drops

Oh ... not our proudest moment .. :(

I have to say, that admission surprises me and impresses me more than anything else Afrihost has done since the R29/Gb offer hit. Well played.

From what I'v heard, Afrihost only seems to be good in Joburg. The speeds in smaller cities like PE aren't mind blowing.

Sounds like an urban myth to me. More like overloaded local exchanges perhaps?

Small city here, no problems on Afrihost, or since the early uncapped days at least ;)

That shouldn't be the case, we access the same broadband network (Telkom) as every other ISP. If you are actually experiencing the slow speeds you mention, please PM me your username.

Not me personally, my friend. We were comparing speeds as I'm on Mweb. Also hear complaints while online gaming from people in my area about it. Maybe just stigma, I don't know. That just what I heard.

I myself am interesting in moving to afrihost because of good pricing BUT and its a big BUT, there are rumors of heavy throttling with your uncapped products. Can you clarify?

Cool, thanks for letting us know. Please encourage your friend to get in touch with me, cos if there is an issue we'd love to get it sorted out.

I would just like to inform you MWEB guys out there that they are going to drop the 4mb and 10mb prices quite soon!

Hi guys

I can't confirm or deny what has been mentioned.

I can assure you that our customers will be the first to know if something like this happens.

Based on what Afrihost just did, Mweb will have to pull an elephant out of the hat now. Bless the all mighty price war.

I pity said hat. Will be strained to get to fit an elephant inside (even if you remove the butter from it)

With the new afrihost pricing I don't see any reasonable person staying on the very expensive 3g.

I have a dream... A Dream filled with HD streaming from youtube, online video rentals, better dropbox uploads, and HD video chats with hong kong.

While 512Kb got to go to 1024Kb and 312kB will get 1024Kb, and 1024Kb will go to 2048Kb, 4Mb customers have stayed the same.

That is untill afrihost droped the bomb today.

So will you Mweb change our fates, and gives us 10Mb at a reasonable price?

Edit: Fixed bad sizes

Hi FaSMaN

There has recently been a lot of speculation and discussion in the ADSL market as a result of the planned Telkom line speed upgrades scheduled for August and September. We are currently reassessing our ADSL product range in lieu of these line speed changes and we’ll let you know well ahead of the time if we plan to make any changes.

i can increase my speed by a factor of 2.5 for the same price by switching to afrihost now! even for a brand-loyal bloke such as myself, that sure it tempting! 10mps uncapped instead of 4mps uncapped sure does sound nice to me! gratuitous exclamation marks!!!

Well I am sure you guys will work something out, you allways do.

You gave us uncapped , and for that I will allways be grateful :)

I'm staying with MWeb for now. 10Mbs doesn't help if Afrihost haven't changed and I get shaped at something ridiculous.

I'm also staying with Mweb for now. It's been a welcome surprise by Afrihost but this always happens when changes are around the corner in the ADSL market. Some ISP's drop their price and take a hit for a month or two to gain clients but as soon as that month or two has passed the other ISP's change their products to the same level or better.

Just as an example that's why I would personally not move to Afrihost or any other ISP's untill Telkom has done the line upgrades and untill the major ISP's has officially brought out new products.

Totally pointless going through the pain of moving ISP's or saving some money now and by the time August/September comes you can shoot yourself in the foot for moving from your current ISP's which by then has a better offering.
