I know with these uncapped accounts mostly non HTTP stuff is shaped. HTTP has usually been fine to download with (Linux ISO's etc)

Now it is pathetic, I am currently paying R535 a month for a 4MB account but only getting about 512K. WTF MWEB???

Ever since this DSTV streaming and Seacom came online MWEB has been giving issues:wtf:

duno . . I am still getting decent speeds a. I am using the dstv thing b. Also dling from http and speeds are only about 20KB slower

Think there's a problem again - as I'm having trouble getting to some sites.

This is what I don't understand, it sounds like DC all over again. Some people problems and others no issues at all?!!!

Could you be more specific? If you are having problems, but others aren't, the problem must be your link to MWeb, or the link to the destination site (local or international).

Tracert will indicate if its a routing problem. Otherwise the server may be slow/congested/whatever.

Maybe you can post the link of the file you are trying to download and other users with 4mb lines can also check to see what there speeds are?

280KB/sec on one server. I think it is slower than usual but it's still 2.6 Mbit/sec.

yeah not bad speed but howcome is the internet still slow for streaming camera's which use to work 100% now all of a sudden we having so much trouble with telkom in sorting lines out

i am guessing it is more likely a server related issue. i've seen that not all ftp sites come down at top speed. fwiw

be that as it may, the service does seem sluggish.

Fastest speed with only this downloading is 25KB/s for me (on a frikken 4MB line)

Tracert goes via TE Data (Egypt). Latency is fine (250ms), but that route (Europe, non-UK) is often slow. May also be speed limited by the server. I don't think this is MWeb's problem, although going via SAT-3 might be faster.

Most of my HTTP from UK (BBC podcasts) and Europe (EUMetsat images) is between 20 and 30Kbyte/sec (also 4Mbps line).

I don't know trying to download a patch from Microsoft and I am getting the same speed.

This really is insane!

Speedtest gives me this

Edit wait what

*Seriously confused now*

Run it now three times and still get over 9

It's a glitch in the matrix. They're looking for you Neo... get out now!

Wouldn't MWEB hard-limit the account to 4Mbit anyway even if the line syncs higher? Either they don't or that speedtest server has lost some bolts.

It is so strange but here is the best bit! Line sync is only at 3.4M, so I assume now that Speedtest has lost it.

PS I'll follow the white rabbit
