MWeb slow today

I am also seeing very poor speeds and packet loss... struggling to send e-mails, getting timeouts so I've run ping on the line...

My modem says the line is OK.. it is not resynching or any of that. About an hour ago I was unable to synch at all... so I am not sure the DSLAM is 100% but I am really not going to spoil my weekend by getting violent with a Telkom employee.

I see at times when packet loss is like 75% and then it comes back a few minutes later.
There's definitely a problem somewhere.

Hi Koosi

I have checked the account and line readings, all seems fine. I sent you a PM, have a look and keep me posted.

I was getting some high latency earlier today - I just disconnected/reconnected my PPP connection and its working fine now - in case anybody else is experiencing the same thing..

Getting Decent speeds now... even more than I did all week.
Not a MWEB problem, nor the ADSL line...

Farking network switch decided to say goodbye :o
Thanks for all your help MWEB Guy... your assistance helped me pin-point the problem even further.

I picked it up when I tried to access the router, and the page appeared broken, no images..etc.. and I got that packet loss again... powered down.. powered up and still no joy... bypassed it and whoosh..... speed!

*me trundles off to the shop to replace network switch*

Confirmed... getting impressive speeds, on a congested link overseas :)
Anyone know where I can get a network switch, little 8 port jobbie, at this hour? I really don't want to go to Incredible Corruption?

No problem Koosi

Glad you pin pointed the problem :)

Thanks :)

Getting over 100kbyte/sec easily. Next time I'll check the hardware properly first

Your best option is to wait for Monday for an online shop to open again... lest you want to pay through your teeth.
