Mweb Uncapped 384k Users

Dude when was this ..I can only seem to muster about 10 kbs on news servers im thinking of canceling.

It was pulling at between 35 and 40KBps all night.........was still chugging along when I left home at 6:30....

Dont know what speeds its getting at this point......but even when I tried yesterday afternoon during shaping time, newshost was averaging 30KBps....... *touch wood*

Speeds were not that great last night. I kicked off a 550Mb torrent download last night at about 21h00. This morning at 06h30 it was still not finished, was sitting at 95% completed.

HTTP was going at 440KB/sec last night from about 1:00am.

Not only is my account heavily shaped but I am getting ping of 150ms on Steam, local servers???? How are everyone else's pings?

I noticed usenet was heavilly shaped (or throttled?) this weekend. Ironically, I tested torrents and they seemed to be good......

Does anybody understand the Mweb shaping rules?

Pretty good. Getting in the 30-50 ms range on average. Also, MW2 has 4 full green bars.

I'm on 4mb and it seems that international is down my side as well. And I was in the middle of a skype meeting :(

Edit: back online within minutes.

sorry to post completely off topic
i know i might sound lame with this but im having problems with my dial-up connection.
i always used to connect at speeds bet 44-52kb. from the beginning of this year i notice that i only connect at bet 32-34kb max.
previously-i never had to wait long to open any webpage--now, even to check my email means waiting 5-7 mins and since im being charged by the minute-this means that a R35 recharge voucher hardly allows me to do much on the net.
whenever i complain to Telkom, the tech comes in and fiddles with my phone line etc, then goes down the road to the Telkom box and comes back after 45 mins and tells me the problem should be sorted out. when i check- its still the same- then the tech says maybe i should just get ADSL- why should i have to get ADSL if im satisfied with dial-up. i think they are intenionally slowing my line speed or maybe there are too many connections in one box and this is causing congestion.
hey-dont laugh if i sound stupid-cos i dont know much about this- whatdo u guys think is the problem? i checked my moodem-its working fine.why is my speed so slow nowadays?

Dude, you can't be serious, right?

Check for crackling noise on the phone line. Remove messages in your inbox (voicemail). Try another number to dial and test difference.

It is 2010, and you still enjoy dial-up (pay-as-you-go, nogal!), I can't believe this. LOL!

I am sorry you have dial-up as your primary connection. Regarding your poor speed (if you can even call it that), try dialing another PoP (look here for the list, if you're with MWEB). If that doesn't help, check that your dial-up settings haven't changed in advertantly, ie to 33K, when it should be 56K. If that doesn't work, get ADSL... in fact get ADSL regardless. I have no doubt it will cost you only a fraction more.

i got a call from a Telkom tech this morning in response to my complaint about my dial-up connection speed. the guy said that telkom can guarantee only 9600bps. this is sufficient for voice only- anything more is a bonus- the bast*$% is lying.
how the hell were they ever able to offer dial-up if the connection speed is so slow? and why did i or anyone else never experience continuous slow speeds like this before?
anyone here still using dial-up?
what speeds do u guys get- those few who still use dial-up?
i used diff username/password-diff ISP and even checked modem settings

maybe if i get the Telkom do broadband package-R200 inc ADSL line rental and put the phone on my moms name-shes a pensioner-so she pays R65 only- so ill pay R265 montly for 1 gig @384k-is that right or do they give more than a gig now?
