I'm an MWEB account holder, have been for 5 years.

This month I went loco with my nzb's and torrents (couch potato is awesome...) and have seriously abused my MWEB account. I think i'm on about 500 or 600GB for the past 30 days.

The point is... I can. When i signed up fro MWEB uncapped 4mbps account, there was NO AUP. I never agreed to an AUP. What right do MWEB have to throttle me to the point that for R899 per month, I now have absolutely no service.

Ah well, screw that. I'm cancelling this MWEB crap.

Any suggestions where I can move to, i'm looking for an ISP who will take my money in exchange for giving me the service I want.

have heard a lot of good things about webafrica

Based on what you said I have 3 words for you: Axxess Business Uncapped ;)

https://www.axxess.co.za/businessuncapped

That great, a customer offering to vouch for Axxess is always a good sign especially when that customer includes the vouch in their sig... :)

I was with Axxess a long time ago but did not have a good experience. What kind of bandwidth are you using month to month on average?

MOrning, we've always had an AUP; we've only changed the way we enforce it.

Approximate 400GB threshold on the 4MB package, based on download data only (uploads not included) is more than reasonable.

You will find that the package is very competitive in the market place.

You also have the option of our 6MB premium package, which has a threshold of approximately 600GB.

So what I have is actually a 400GB capped account with MWEB?

YOu are being throttled and not hard capped.

You need to ensure that you manage your usage.

Firstly, I signed up with for this service under the FREE THE WEB MWEB campaign. The web is most certainly more incarcerated now, than before MWEB decided to free it.

Secondly, please come to my house. My wife will give you a cup of coffee and some biscuits. When you sit in the chair im currently sitting in, you will learn that there is no difference between being throttled and capped. So its easy for you, wiht your lovely company perks to make smug comments on this forum while you have no idea what the paying customers out there are expencing.

Please don't patronise me by telling me to manage my usage. I have an uncapepd account which at the time of the WEB BEING FREED had an extremely liberal AUP attached to it. The campaign form MWEB resulted in such a surge in the service that MWEB had no alternative but to introduce an AUP WITH enforcement. I know this from working within MIH.

The content of my email and my views on the matter has not changed at all given your responses. Get your lawyers to respond to me.

Don't tell me I'm wrong, SHOW me I'm wrong. Present the facts. Post the evidence.

FREE THE WEB campaign was about Local Loop unbundling i.e. having Telkom unbundle the voice and ADSL, to enable client to pay for only one service instead of two.

Even before we introduced throttling, we were banning abusers from our network and issuing warnings to the clients who were moving more than 400GB to 500GB on the premium 4MB packages.

These packages were never meant to be used in the manor they were, that's why we have unshaped services. The unshaped services have no thresholds or limitations imposed on them and are in a different price bracket.

Currently the service you are on is being throttled to a speed of 768Kbps, which is definitely still usable. We've tested this before introducing throttling on our network.

All in all, the change has done wonders for our network. More of our clients are able to have a better experience, as a small percentage of the base is not affecting them in a negative manor.

The video you've provided is more regarding the marketing of uncapped and does not support any of the points you've raised earlier.

No the video highlights that free the web was about uncapped, and not the local loop unbundling nonsense you uttered.

FREE the Web had lots of initiatives, it was a Facebook page as well.

One of the main aims of the page, before it was disbanded. Was the LLU initiative.

MWEB Guy was very present on the page.

If you want to use 500-600gigs of usage a month without issues your only option is a business account.

or wait a ew days till you go below the threshold.
