MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Afternoon, CRC errors normally indicates that there could be line problem between the exchange and you.

When you pick up your telephone, is there any crackling noises on your analogue line? You could put a filter on the unused wall jack, however there is no guarantee that will clear up the errors you are getting.

I will re-create your port now, to see if that helps. The line readings look good at the moment though.

If there's more than 1 access point for the phone line the noise may actually be within the house wiring itself and not even be between him and the exchange. What I'd do is unplug the phone on the 2nd port (keep the 3rd unplugged/unused too) and see if the situation improves after another router reboot.

Tried that. It didn't improve my avg download speed. My router status page still doesn't look good :(

Mwebguy my 2MB is only syncing at a 1MB (migrated account) and I cant download more than 20KB/s... help?

Do you have an alarm hooked up to your phone? Like ADT or whatever. What kind of jacks do you have? (trying to figure out how old the house is). I know with the OLD OLD OLD plugs (those ugly big yellowish ones) you sometimes get carbon buildup that creates noise you can hear on the line.

Yeah I think so. Red Alert. I will check it out now :D

EDIT: Nope :( it's connected to a big antenna

Hey!

Here's another speedtest.net result:

I have changed the ADSL mode from ADSL to ADSL2.

Here's the latest router ADSL status page:

Still my average download speed has not improved :(

I'm downloading the latest nvidia driver (from the official site) at around 60-70kB/s. I downloaded a youtube video (via IDM) at around 60kB/s. Normally, a 100mb data should be downloaded in less than 15 minutes but in my case, it takes about 25-30 minutes for it to be fully downloaded.

EDIT:

Is there anything I can do to resolve these issues?

The CRC errors looks a bit better.

The speeds test results are not bad at all either.

Is the microsoft download the only active traffic on your connection?

I duno if its me or the area im in or what but i keep losing my connection...

I play guild wars 2 for about 5min, then i see the DSL light start flashing.

Anyone else having similar issues today?

Hi Wolfy,

Your account has been upgraded to 2mb, however your line readings are really bad. Your line is currently syncing at 1356 kbps and your attenuation is at 65dB. This will certainly be impacting on your experience.

I have tested my 1mb line again. Not good :( It's behaving as if it's 384K line.

:::.. Download Speed Test Results ..:::

Download Connection Speed:: 350 Kbps or 0.3 Mbps
Download Speed Test Size:: 12 MB or 12288 kB or 12582912 bytes
Download Binary File Transfer Speed:: 44 kB/s
Test Time:: 2012-10-19 15:58:34 Local Time
1MB Download in 23.27 Seconds - 1GB Download in ~7 Hours - 6X faster than 56K
This test of exactly 12288 kB took 288.811 seconds to complete
Running at 33% of hosts average (MWEB Connect)
User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0 [!]

I think that it has nothing to do with my not-so-cool router stats :( It's been like this before but it never affected my avg download speed (Http) badly.

Yes :( I hope the download speed issue will be resolved on its own as soon as possible. I have tried everything to resolve this issue unsuccessfully.

EDIT2:

Tested my line again (this time used speedtest.net service)

I don't know know what to say :D

Good Afternoon, I have re-authenticated your account. Please also change your username realm to @dslmweb.co.za and let me know if that makes a difference to your experience.

Good Afternoon Handz, I have tested your line and noticed that your attenuation is on the high side 51dB and your SNR is low at 6dB.

Please ask Telkom to sync your line at 1mb and recreate your port and let me know if that helps with the stability of your line.
