I have updated your line fault and asked our third party team to contact you with an update.

Thanks, got the latest update today from the third party team regarding the status of my line fault.

It says that Telkom has confirmed that my line cable (is it just me or everyone in my area? I have no clues) is stolen (2nd time!). I don't know if they are actually working to get my line back to normal. That sucks, right?
 
When I joined MWeb over 6 months ago, I was so impressed with speeds for downloads from news servers, and this was the case until the last few weeks. I have not changed news servers, etc. I like to DL in HD so the files are much bigger, but all of this has been the case since the word go. I found that things did slow down a bit during office hours, but it was not by much when it happened, and I fully understand that

As many have complained about, things have gone down in the last few weeks. I thought that things might have improved a bit over weekends, but as an example, here are my stats from Net Limiter for today. I started my DL before 06:00 and shows megs DL per hour

9 304
10 266
11 215
12 188
13 167

I am on a 1 meg line so first two hours showed pretty much full capacity download, and then each hour gets slower and slower. The files are all less than 24 hours old.

A few weeks ago I was told that I was getting good value for money by MWeb, and the "it is a best effort service" line. Yes I know it is a best effort, and as to good value - not too sure how to decide when it is good value or not, and also I do not think that is the best response when for 6 months I would have agreed, but suddenly as things get slower and slower, I must still buy into that statement and now say all is good.

Anyway I am hoping that MWeb will be able to get back to when they really did provide a great service and it was a good deal.
 
After much thought and consideration...I'm "jumping ship" and cancelling my MWEB ADSL account. The unfortunate part is that its not effective immediately but a calendar month. I just cannot accept the service levels and speeds since the Telkom "auto" upgrades.

I have a friend on Afrihost and his speed is constant and his downloads for this month is double mine...

These traces does not look too bad at all.

Traces, aren't the issue. It appears far too many people using the Dbn pop are having issues.

I'd like to find out, how much of a traffic increase Mweb has seen with the Telkom upgrades?

I'd bet there's more traffic hence shaping appears to be heavier...

Who is your ISP? Have Telkom checked your line and made sure there's no problem? Anyone else in your area have problems with lines slower than yours... e.g. 1, 2, 4MB line speeds?

Thanks but it would be nice of you to post some "Fault Status updates". Is there a general faliure ref for this? Could we have it? I would like to follow it up with Telscum just for my own benefit.

I can not give you the particular fault ref number.

I suggest then you contact Telkom and give them your customers line number and take it from there ?

Whats up MWEB Guy, been a happy subscriber since launch. My brother has become a bit addicted to Black Ops 2. He complains that he is lagging and his signal is weak. I'm not a gamer so I am assuming it is a latency issue or due to shaping. Any idea if that might be the case? My line is reasonably stable but right on the edge of being unstable, I still manage 4megs though. Any ideas what might be the cause?

Gee...thanks for nothing! You posted the outage, you spoke to Telkom so you should have the ref. Its always better to follow up on the general ref and makes it so much easier. Also, Telkom has the facility for us to follow the status of the fault online...but...you need the ref of course.
