International, local and gaming seems horridly slow this morning. Was fine about 2 hours ago but its terrible now. Restarted modem and nothing. Took long to load this page, took forever for speedtest. Strangely the test seemed fine, so I don't understand whats going on, if its me or mweb.

Are you referring to browsing as well?

Looking at your line readings your attenuation is borderline, 51.5dB. This could be impacting on your experience.

Please have Telkom recreate your port and let me know if that makes any difference.
 
Now I have no connection at home ping 780ms, download speed 0.01Mbps,

Just to put some fuel on Eliphas's fire:
My attenuation is 61dB and I could not be happier. My 1mb line is performing better than expected. Sooooo happy I moved away from Afrihost.

I thank you for the effort, but all I get are calls telling me a technician has been assigned to the problem, so in reality nothing has been done and no one knows what is actually going on, and I am left with a problem.

There is no reported issues in that area. You can see a list of affected areas on our Network Status page on our website.
 
Mmm...any know issues in the Alberton area MWEB guy?

I just moved back here and activated my new number on my account but browsing seems to be extremely slow compared to my previous house on the same line speed.

There are no reported issues in the Alberton area. Bear in mind that different exchanges will respond differently across the country.

I've heard through the grapevine that Telkom is currently undergoing upgrades at their dslams which could be the reason for slow speeds and high pings. How true this is, I don't know.

I have a friend also in Lakeside experiencing the same problem and they have managed to get Telkom to refund them for the line rental due to lack of service.
 
SUPER IRRITATED, as our 4MB Line is running at less than 1MB (about 0.38MB) This is completely unacceptable! We have complained now for abt 3 weeks and nothing has been done. Mweb blame Telkom and no one wants to admit that they have a problem. I cant even browse a local website! THIS IS RIDICULOUS! I am in Lakeside. Why wont someone just admit that they have a problem and get on with fixing it! That way we can get some closure and get on with our live's. I am tired of being diplomatic! What am I paying for?
 
So the last few pages of this thread seem to be the same few people, mostly edge cases with bad lines complaining about speed/latency issues. I'm looking at biting the bullet and signing up with Mweb again after a long hiatus. Could any of the uncapped users who are medium to heavy downloaders - especially those who might be on 10mb uncapped - tell me how their accounts perform these days? How is general connectivity / downloading / streaming during the day and off peak? Anything you're unhappy about?

I am also getting 1meg down on a 4meg uncapped, streaming buffers like mad, and everything is slow.
I know our exchange is congested, so I don't know if this is a Mweb problem.....
 
I queued a bunch of well seeded torrents the other night to see how it would go, got around 5 gigs on a 4meg line over the course of the night.

Performance in general is good, although not quite as rock solid as I've come to expect.
