This is the issue on my 4mb account as well. When it works all is normal, Get about 200 kbps on news server, good pings and decent down speeds. Things get very erratic however, especially late afternoon and evenings. I get time outs and slowdowns then connection drops this happend up to 6 times in 40 min last night. Switch to my free FNB Data and all is fine... Very frustrating because Telkom and Mweb both say connection tests fine...

I ahve the same problem. MWEB will deny any fault, problem is, if you look at any of the other ISP threads, they all seem to have tha same issue. My reasoning is why move from MWEB just to have the same cr@p elsewhere. It just seems like the more they grow, the less they are interested in supplying consistant reliable internet.

It's sad actually.

Definitely something going on, as the international monitors on my website are reporting problems accessing my web server at MWEB Bus.

I also do not want to go through a move either. As someone else said, and I tend to agree, that since the Seacom cable break a few weeks ago, MWeb has not been the same on international (very erratic).

Hi PurSpyk!!

We are doing everything we can to get to the bottom of your line issue. We will remain in contact with you until it is resolved.

I do appreciate the effort of you and the other technical chaps, but after all this time and not a solution is in sight, I basically have no option but to cancel. As other users have found its only Mweb that has these poor speeds. I don't think you guys can fix my connection as the issue is with the Mweb network, or the shaping or something that web refuse to make public.

I will be moving, saving R200 and probably have a decent speed, and even if its the same erratic service, I will be less stressed as I will have an extra R200 in my pocket every month.

HI MWEB Guy! I'm in Durban and am experiencing intermittent International browsing loss. My router resets and my ADSL light turns from green to red. I do not have this problem when I immediately switch to my Telkom and Axcess Prepaid accounts.

This seems to happen daily at specific times and I am left with no International access for about 2-4 hours. I know of 3 other Durbanites in the Westville/Pinetown area with this problem.

Hi Schitzo

Can you please send me tracert from www.google.com done with all 3 accounts when this happens. Also include continues ping results.

Hi :)

How do I safely migrate our ADSL line from MWEB back to TELKOM without having our ADSL deactivated or something like that? Please kindly tell me what do I need to do in order to complete this process, thanks :)

EDIT:

My router is BILLION W40. Is it locked to MWEB only? Do I have to buy a new router if I want to switch over to another ISP?

Hi DarkSpectre

Please see PM I sent you.

Mine is slow. Takes a while to open most websites. :(

Hi Kush

I have refreshed your account. Please also ask Telkom to recreate the ADSL port.

Are you running downloads and trying to browse?

I am in Durban (Amanzimtoti) too, and experience the same international access problems.

197-80-96-6.jhb.mweb.co.za [197.80.96.6]

seem to be erratic, and can be up to over 900 ms at times.

I think, and have for a will as this is not the first time I have posted this, the problem is at the local durban MWeb site.

I have also done a tracert from my mweb 4M account to my server at MWEB Business and I get very erratic results.

I did some more tests just on my first hop, and the problem appears to be with this point:

C:\Users\Andy>ping 41.133.66.1

Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 41.133.66.1:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 3, Lost = 1 (25% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 118ms, Maximum = 146ms, Average = 128ms

Something not "lekker" at that point.

Hi zs6cey

I will log a technical specialist call back for you.

Did you see the 2nd hop of the tracert sent? It looks like you have a possible congestion issue at your exchange.
