MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Hi MWEB Guy

I have a problem with my internet it is very slow. Done a speedtest on various sites with same result. Called Telkom to do a reset but to no avail. Could the problem be on MWEB's side?

Same this side. Seems to be international related. Same problems don't exist on Afrihost so must be a problem on MWeb's side.

MWEB is dropping again tonight - frustratring, doing a online course and cannot stream the videos - at least MTN 3G works perfect, costing me a fortune

Streaming and downloads aren't great for me either. Speed Test results are looking fine, but real time http downloads are terrible. +/- 12-15kbps. Tried from Dropbox and WeTransfer and those are the speeds I'm getting. YouTube streaming is also buffering on 360p. Reset the router, and all was fine for all of 15 minutes or so. Could this be related to the DDoS attack mentioned earlier today ?

Mweb Guy

Yesterday afernoon, my browsing died. Reset router, and had no internet connection after reboot. Phoned callcentre. The guy reset port and got me to do a saix speed test. Download speed was 0.03Mps and upload 0.21. Tried with the Telkom guest account, download speed 4.25mbps, upload 0.41. Reverted back to mweb account, reset port, download 2.1mbps, upload 0.21mps.

Reset account, wait half an hour, reboot router. Download 2.1mpbs upload 0.21. Reset port again, download back to 4.1mps. This is a far cry off the 5.4mbps I got last week.

What would have caused this? Is my account being throttled? I have not been doing any major downloads lately.

Please advise.

Thanks

Good Morning, please provide me me your MWEB account details via private message and your speed test results.

Good Morning, we no reported international outages. With which international traffic did you have the problem?

Good Morning

I checked your account and there were numerous router disconnections yesterday.

Is there any noise on your telephone line? Do you have filters on all points being plugged into a wall jack?

Good Morning Gerhardva, you have a 4MB account with us and your speeds should be 4.1mps. Last week your speed seem to burst to your line speeds, this does happen from time to time.

Today I'm going to cancel my MWEB account :( I'm tired of being a starving cow. I mean you (MWEB) milk $$$ out of us but fail to keep us well-fed 24/7 :( Plus I want to upgrade my line to 2mbit. MWEB 2mbit uncapped offer sucks  I don't like to be fed as little as possible as a punishment if I eat too much. Openweb is the best farm to be right now in this case.

So if I send an email to the cancellation dept to have my account cancelled today then my account will be actually cancelled at the end of next month?

EDIT: Is my Billion W40 provided by MWEB locked? Do I REALLY have to buy a new router just to be able to use my new Openweb account???

Only on Mweb due their Engineers knowing nothing about setting up a network system without bursting moments and continuous cycling.. ;)

Hi DarkSpectre

If you submit the cancellation today then June will be your notice period and the account will be canceled at the end of June.
If you'd like to unlock your router, drop me a PM with your preferred email address.
I'll ensure that you receive the unlock firmware.

I see on the network status page that there is a log for Pinelands which is still unresolved relating to telkom issues. I don't suppose anyone (MWEB Guy?) knows anything? When will it be sorted? Getting rather irritating now :(

Hi Dames,

No ETR has been provided for the fault.
Drop me a PM with your cell number and I will set up and SMS alert on your account to notify you when it is resolved.
