MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Good Day, The Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) outlines these rules and guidelines for fair network use. It also explains what steps we may take to limit the impact that a customer behaving in an abusive manner can have on the entire network.

We are in the process of updating all of our marketing material to reflect the change and thanks very much for pointing out the Facebook reference.

We will notify our marketing team and make sure they include it in the material that needs updating

On what date did the changes to the FUP occur? That's the date my 30 days notice will run from, thank you very much.

The system does not allow for this at the moment, you will be able to enable mail forwarding via My account to your billing email address though.

I checked both e-mail addresses, and did not get any warnings in the 9 months being with M-Web. Yet I'm falsely accused of being an abuser.

To give credit where it is due, at least MWEB Guy is still responding to our posts. Many other company reps would have crawled under a rock long ago.

He is not really responding. I'm sure he has many pre-authored(By marketing and legal) responses that he just copy and paste. It's clear in most of the "responses"

@mwebguy

Hi there Adoxographist

Pro tip: Downgrade your account to their 1GB Capped account so you only pay R29 for the next month as MWEB are scaly naais that like to charge you an extra month for an account you no longer want.

"Hey there officer, what seems to be the problem?"
"You were speeding Sir, and now I am going to issue with a speeding ticket"
"Erm officer, this is a rural road and I did not see any speed indication signs, so thought to play it down the middle and drive 80km/h... You know between 60 and 120 km's per hour. Like it says in the learners book?"
"Very nice Sir, however, I still am issuing you a speeding ticket"
"Seriously officer? What is the speed limit in this road zone?"
"We are not sure Sir, but what we are sure about is that you were speeding and thus, I am issuing a speeding ticket!"
"Erm, your logic is flawed and your standpoints mutually exclusive"
"Yes Sir, see you were speeding and I ..."
*Facepalm*

:D

I am interested to know why they decided to make it rolling 30 days for their calculation...

Why 30 days?

Well I have decided which isp and package I'm going to use next, but I will cancel on Monday and see how things go while I serve out my sentence on mweb premium throttled uncapped cancellation period.

MWEB, are the people who made this decision stupid? If its your "premium" product, put your price up so the people on it can experience a "premium uncapped home" service.

Then maybe call your current uncapped service "uncapped light" and then introduce a more shaped (and throttled) service "uncapped medium" or some such (get your creative guys on the names).

As a mweb client (who did not get this mail) I am not pleased. I feel a signature change coming on again...

Good tip I hope more people take note of this, I think Mweb just shot themselves in the foot.

^^^ Never a truer word spoken! ^^^

Trouble is the isp market is hot potatoes I guess, and rather than being upfront and honest, and maybe loosing a few along the way, its easier to cloud the issue.

Me, I will pay, just give me what i pay for is all I ask. Cap it if you like, set the limit and the amount just tell me what it is and I will choose the package that suits me best.

Uncapped in SA is BS and always will be as long as Telkom are in control of the nuts and bolts
ISP's sending out warning letters cause folks use 100 or 300GB pm is hardly an uncapped service lol, who are you trying to kid here :D I mean seriously :D :D :D

No matter what isp you are with it will be the same, so this is not all on mwebs door, they all play by their budget/client base and telkoms rules at the end of the day. Balancing that must be difficult.

Jip, we're shafted

Just downgrade to a R29 capped account and then cancel.

Hey man, how does this downgrade process work? Do you just call them & do it or do you have to fill in some form etc?

Also when do you have to do it? I would assume you would downgrade just before the month ends & then only have to pay R29 for September, at the end of which the account will be cancelled?

I do 120-140gb on my Mweb 1Mbps line - seems like they can't handle the extra bandwidth usage long term from the telkom upgrades. In any case MWEB Guy - how will the throttling work & what speeds will we be throttled to?

+1
Very nicely sums up the AUP of a few ISPs in SA.

Sent PM to downgrade to 1gb as the clientzone is very client unfriendly. (Impossible to manage one's account at all, unlike other ISPs).
Another cancellation coming shortly.

Hope I don't have to call Mweb billing.
Thanks in advance, Mweb Guy. :)

Hi Mweb Guy

I have been averaging between 90-500 gigs a month, does this mean i will be throttled by Mweb? I am on a 4meg "premium" uncapped account and would just like to know if Mweb can provide me with the service i signed up for or if i need need to go to a provider who can
