Just drove pass MWEB head office in CT - place looks deserted
About 10 cars around the front entrance

Wouldn't say this is a company in the middle of a crises

How is the Neverwinter MMO?

It's actually really good. Latency plays a large part though, as you are actively able to dodge attacks. As it stands now, I take the damage, then see the attack animation :D

Seriously is there no redundancy at all? Every time this damn cable goes down, everything comes to a halt.

Hi MWEB Guy,

I understand the need to shape certain services during these outages, but something is seriously wrong when Google searches and a bunch of other websites frequently time out.

What redundancy? I've barely been able to load an international website since yesterday.

Just to reiterate for everyone.

http://www.seacom.mu/news <- Last update was at 10am this morning.

https://twitter.com/seacom <- Last update was at 1pm today, which was literally just re-quoting their 10am news article posted above.

http://www.mweb.co.za/helpcentre/NetworkStatusNotices.aspx <- Last update was at 8am on the 22nd March, stating it will be, roughly, a 24 hour fix. Kind of shocking. I would have hoped that these network statuses would be updated after the ETA is breached.

My mweb account is pretty much null and void atm, and completely useless. As the only 2 sites that actually load, are mybb and speedtest.net. I was fortunate enough, to qualify for one of the trial accounts from any of the other ISP's. So I am currently running on the 5gb WebAfrica trial. I was really hoping there were more ISP's offering a permanent account like Afrihost has. But dollah dollah bills ya'all. I also have the free 1GB for life Afrihost account. Which is my oh-crap-I-don't-have-internet account.

Not that these outages happen very often on mweb. I have been happy with the service for the last 3 years. But I will wait it out, until that Seacom company get their arse in gear and fix their routing/cabling/broken equipment/congestion/whatever their current issue is.

However, just a suggestion for those having issues with google on mweb dsl. When I try search Google through my browser search bar(top right side or through the URL bar) I get no response at all [Guessing its trying to communicate with google.com]. But if I browse (and have some patience as it does still timeout occasionally) directly to google.co.za site, and then do a search from the page that loads up, I can usually yield a result. It's not exactly the greatest of fixes, but if you are stuck on an mweb account. This might help in the interim. Good luck loading the pages your search yields though.

Looking forward to this issue coming to an end, so I can get back to my net addiction. And enjoy some online gaming too.

MWEB should provide several GBs say 2-3GB worth of b/w in unshaped form. They should email those temporary accounts through to every customer. That way the customer can self police.
