what happened to the saix backup/reroute mweb had last time the cable broke? it was definitly a degraded service but at least you could do everything at half the speed....

side note : applied for mweb 4mb uncapped last week. very suspicious that a cable breaks when i have a lot of linux distros to catch up on...*tongue in cheek* ;)

K thanks for the update... I guess... Please reroute us to the SAT3 cables when this happens again, and for God's sake get a better backup backbone for when Seacom goes offline, it will be your down fall, I tell you now!!

Hi everyone

We've just received an update from Seacom: Due to the number of affected cables the restoration work is taking longer than expected and is unlikely to be completed today.

Seacom are doing everything possible to restore services as soon as they can. We will update you again once we have further news.

I'm a little unclear as to why MWEB themselves don't have sufficient backup. I was under the assumption you did?
I do appreciate that the SEACOM issue is beyond your control but I'm a little unclear as to the lack of backup.

Does anyone perhaps know why during this time of outage, a download of BF3 from Origin is running at full speed and YouTube also works okay but basic internet browsing of international sites is really bad?

its cause they have local peering setup for us

FYI
Remember that cancellations for next month close on the last working day of this month, so you must send cancellations through to [email protected] by this coming Thursday, March 28th.

Thanks for the remind, my Mweb premium service is not so premium as I thought so it seems the correct thing to do. But where next.. ?

This is not likely to be known until the cable is repaired in the coming week or two and the damaged section is recovered from the seabed and inspected.

From the CEO of Seacom. Reading that makes me think I will have these speeds for a lot longer.
If I cancel my account why should I have to pay for this for another month since its not what I'm getting?

Getting normal speed playing LoL, but can't browse anything at all. Which is kinda wierd

This is really vague. Please give more info and what is Mweb doing to keep their customers satisfied. I think you need to get an actual Mweb Manager here to answer these questions for us. Right now i understand that you dont have any information but they should be here dealing with this and not you.

Browsing is broken for me. Using my phone and Cell C.

Afrihost Business Uncapped is now the same price as Mweb Premium. As long as you're not a 700+GB pm data demon you should be very very happy on it.

Surely we should get compensated for this outage as no responable backup is in place. If I purchase 10GB from Cybersmart at R69 will Mweb refund me this money?
